you send IP a great name, especially if you're up on your Mexican profanity. It is El Chingon. |
I haven't seen Nebraska beers up here in my neck of the woods yet. Hopefully soon. You've steered me to several really good beers and I look forward to trying that one.
I had my favorite (so far) Texas IPA a couple of weeks ago. On tap at the craft kiosk at the Rangers game. Deep Ellum IPA. Flavor, aroma, more flavor and hops. Downside...9.75 a pour. Worth it at a baseball game though. |

My daughter and son in law own a beer canning company and can beer for most of the craft brewers in Texas. If youve had a Texas craft beer in a can they probably canned. I'll ask them which are considered the best craft beer in Texas.
Personally however - I'm still a Negra Modelo man myself. _________________ Now that food has replaced my sex life I can't even get into my own pants!!!!!!!!

I would find their opinion extremely interesting. Lots of craft breweries are going to the can, which is good for old river runners. Can't tolerate glass in the river bottom. |

The only place I found it here is HEB. They had it for a while then stopped carrying it until I kept bugging them. Just yesterday my wife brought me a case of my favorite beer from New Mexico; La Cumbre Elevated IPA. |

spent late Saturday( 06/06/15)at a Chili's in Eagle Pass after we delivered a train there bound for Mx.
my co-worker (Ukrainian Immigrant who came here post-Soviet.. '92) insisted we have Stella Atrios from the tap... full TV commercial deal... the Stella Chalice.. knife cut of half the head off...
watched American Pharoah win the Triple Crown and had many Stella's in celebration...
favorite? maybe not,
great, yes!
but there's SO many good beers
how can one be best?
really looking forward to stopping by the new Alamo Brewing Co. just east of Downtown San Antonio...
also wanting to visit Freetail Brewing
and Ranger Creek, too...
they make a Texas bourbon in addition to beers...
lots of wineries, breweries and distillers popping up near here...
long ago any town in Tx worth a salt had a brewry...
liking the fact that that part of small-town USA is headed that way again

There's a new brewery here in kerrville. But what we really have is Winerys. Between here and Stonewall I'll bet there are 50 Winerys. Every twinky boo boo that show up here thinks this place is Tuscany, and it's ruining this place. Cost of real estate and living here is becoming astronomical. _________________ Now that food has replaced my sex life I can't even get into my own pants!!!!!!!!

^ I hear ya...
there's a little 2-bit winery in Dunlay Tx and get this... the State even put up a sign next to their gate... what? on Hwy 90 right-of-way...I wish I could buy grapes from some of the outfits around Fredburg area and make my own wine, but I don't think any of them sell grapes...
but the relaxed booze laws have given us access to some interesting stuff.
and yup... Kville to Fred and John/Blanco is awash w/Birkenstock types...
I gonna start calling that area Austin West... _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |

They don't grow the grapes here. Most of them come from the panhandle around Lubbock.

I like all the St. Arnold's, but the Amber is my overall favorite.
Found a Real Ale Limited Edition pilsner named "Hans Pils" the other day at Liquid Town that was awesome. Unfortunately you probably can't find it anymore.
Need to go to that Ranger Creek Brewery!
I did enjoy that Abita Amber, esp when I found it at Liquid Town around the Holidays for $3.99 a six pack!
I like beer. It makes me a jolly good felllow. |
Hans Pils is one of their regular offerings now. Starting to show up in more outlets and I even got a twelve pack at HEB the other day for under $15. I also think it's an awesome beer. |

Sucks
I've been wanting to try this for a couple of years and it finally showed up at Pinkies last week. It definitely lived up to the hype! From Lagunitas, 8%, four grains (the rye is most prominent to my taste) and lots of hops. |

The latest Texas brewer to show up on the shelves at my local Spec's is Four Corners out of Dallas with several offerings.
Quite possibly my favorite, Local Buzz is a golden ale with honey and rye. Honey can be tricky and easily overpowering and it is quite noticeable in the smell of this beer. However the rye keeps it in check in the taste and they actually play quite well together.
Heart O' Texas red ale. I love red ales, but honestly I was not a fan of this one. Too aggressive of a malt profile to me that did not finish nicely.
El Super Bee. A saison that hulks in at 8%, but you wouldn't be able to tell by the taste. Deceptively easy to drink that could quickly get you into trouble.
Delicious and dangerous.

Hey Zia, that name has already been taken.
A bruiser of an IPA that clocks in at 7.8%. The strength and taste seem to lean more towards a double, but if they want to classify it as a standard, so be it.
Possibly most interesting of all about these beers is the container it self. Not just that they're in cans but the access system.
The cans have a pull tab that removes the entire top of the can.
This makes for an instant cup-like drinking device or a near foamless pour into a standard glass.
While I've got you, another beer I want to mention is Cedar Creek Brewery's Gone A-Rye double IPA.
YUM!
You had me at Rye.
Double.
IPA.
But don't take my word for it.
Try them yourselves if you like.

It's called a super end 360 lid. The super end comes in regular pull tab configuration and the 360 lid. The only problem with the 360 lid is that it violates litter laws in a lot of states. _________________ Now that food has replaced my sex life I can't even get into my own pants!!!!!!!!

I do like the Four Corners beers. I thought I wasn't that crazy about the red ale on the first sip, but after 2 or 3, I changed my mind. I like the fresh, roasted malt taste. I probably drink them a little too fast with that 360 lid, though... I need to try the others, esp. the IPA. I have seen them at HEB Plus.
I'll bet that Lagunitas Suck is heavy duty. I tried Lagunitas Sumpin' Ale the other day, and it was definitely a hop-head brew, very good. On the bottle it says "Ingredients: Hops, Malt, Hops, Hops, Yeast, Hops, Water, and Hops." |

Can't honestly say it's my favorite beer since I haven't even tried it. HeliYum by Samual Adams. As it sounds it is a helium infused beer. The brew tends to give the expected results to the vocal cords. This drink may make one a bit light headed.
Looking forward to trying one out. You can see videos on YouTube about this beer. Someone probably bows how to post it. _________________ "I do hunt and I do fish and I do not apologize to anyone that I hunt and fish." - Norman Schwarzkopf |
