Hi, does anyone have any info on night pier fishing for trout, heading down there tonight from S.A., preferably around the CC area.

Thanks, Fred

There are several where you can catch trout under the lights on piers in the area. Here a few:

Indian Point - on the Portland end of the Nueces Bay Causeway.
Red Dot or Causeway Bait Stands - On JFK Causeway where it crosses Humble Channel
Oso Pier - on CC Bay near the TAMCC campus.

Well, we tried Reddot Saturday night and I must say I was really disappointed, they only had 2 lights, (3rd went on for a minute then shut off) aimed at the water. Only fish caught was a small red and a flounder and small dink trout.
The pier is well lit up for other types of fishing but not really set up for trout under lights.
On a good note, the flounder fishing was hot sunday morning.

When the water clears up and the dreaded cold water upwelling is no more, Bob Hall can be great for BIG trout at night, on the up current (south this time of year, in normal conditions) side during the summer. Fish the lights closest to shore on either side of the first and second sandbar (breaking waves), with live shrimp and a popping cork. Sometimes they can be darn close to shore, and most folks never know it because they are fishing too far out, "where the BIG fish are", and casting too far away from the pier!!!!!! Had fun at Clems Bait Shack a few nights but really never ever caught much there, but they stay open all night & have a cleaning station with running water.
