A group of 7 or 8 frigate birds just flew over my house. I thought these guys didn't come over land that often?

what's up with that? must be lost, or they heard about the new dump in the bluff and looking for fish heads?

Anytime the Gulf is unstable you can expect to see pelagic species inshore.
There are also Brown Boobies in the area recently Very Happy

Neat birds. They look like juveniles. I swear I saw one sitting on a post the other day which I have not seen very often. We get them around San Jose Island and Matagorda Island quite a bit.

They can really stay up there in the upper sky and take advantage of the thermals. I like to see them dive on the unsuspecting gulls and terns and steal from them like taking candy from a baby.

You can see them sitting on the poles in the bay not too far from Goose Island Park all the time.
