How do you fish them in the surf? Are there certain areas you concentrate? 2nd bar? etc...

Hey speckled.trout!!! I've missed our early morning conversations down at Clem's. I'll be down a couple of days after finals are finished up here in Tyler and look forward to a month straight of die hard fishing. I've been in college up here, but would rather be drinking coffee and listening to your fishing advice every morning. You've taught me, and my Dad(Big Ed) a lot over the years. Maybe you could teach a class at university. I'd major in it.

gdavis... I fish them in the wade and first gut with as little weight as possible on a Carolina rig. Use circle hooks and open the spool when you feel the hit...
Count to five and then start reeling in the big girls... This 5 fish limit will sure save me some money...Only 1 dozen croaker instead of 3.

Thanks John, I'm looking forward to visiting with you again, The croaker are still very small, I think it's going to be a couple more weeks until we see some consistent fishable ones.

See you soon.

Talked to red dot and they said they are still too small as stated earlier in the thread and that they expect to see them in a week or two.

Plenty of em in Aransas @ Conn Brown. But about 99.9% of em are already taken. Most of the guides are reserving em before they even hit the tank. But they do have better size on em then in the corpus area... Still a lil small in my opinion though.

I've always wondered if I needed to hit the second bar or just fish the first wade gut. I'll be trying that this year as well. Thanks for the heads up.

My thing with croaker is that they're dead after 1 cast. Unless I have been hooking em wrong this whole time. Through the tail or up through the lips right?
