We are conducting a dietary analysis study at work involving several offshore fish species. We are looking for specific fish species but they can be caught from anywhere in the Gulf. If anyone is interested in helping us collect samples, please reply here or send me a pm. Thanks in advance.

Ok i'm curious what species are we looking for. I am hoping to get offshore Saturday.

Here's a short list. I have the long list at work, but off the top of my head.....
Kingfish
Snapper other than red
Any grouper species
Blackfin Tuna
Tilefish

Thanks for showing interest and let me know if you're able to "donate" some samples to science. Also, we only need a small piece of dorsal muscle tissue and the gut so you'll still be able to eat your catch if you choose to participate.

I would gladly donate, but I have no plans to go offshore. Unless someone wants to take me! JK I would if I was going out.

The species we are looking at have little/no dietary information for the western Gulf of Mexico. For tilefish, there are only a couple of records that looked into gut content. Using the samples we attain we will be able to genetically analyze gut contents to get a fuller understanding of what these species are eating.
