Abita Andygator has been one of my favorites this year.

I'm also hooked on Sierra Nevada Narwhal stouts (10% ABV!!)

'Tis the season for stouts! Very Happy My retailer doesn't carry SN Narwhal stout...yet. Maybe they will soon. They also have not stocked my Christmas favorite, Brooklyn Chocolate Stout yet this year.

Surviving on SN stout...very good, and a few of the more pricey Founder's Breakfast Stout every now and then. The Breakfast Stout is an exceptional stout!!!

I just got a pack of the Founders Porter - pretty good stuff. Also, speaking of good stouts, Old Rasputin is top of my list too.

Hey, speaking of stouts, HEB on Saratoga had six packs of Saint Arnold Winter Stout for around 7 bucks. I bought two sixers, they are delicious. Tis the season Smile

Still speaking of stouts.....Shiner 106 is called Birthday Beer and is a chocolate stout. If you're into chocolate stouts, give this one a try. Goes great on vanilla bean ice cream. Can also be used instead of water to make brownies.

Alaskan Pale Ale is available at HEB right now. If you like Pale Ales you gotta give this one a try.
Also tried 11 Amp IPA (Spinal Tap!!!!!) from No Label Brewing in Katy. Good IPA.
Harpoon has a Rye IPA out as well that is pretty tasty.

Have you tried Goliad Brewing Company's Redfish IPA, with a picture of the a redfish mermaid and Port A Lighthouse on the label? It's pretty good, as well as their Golden Ale. I haven't tried their Black Hefeweisen or Stout yet, but will soon.

I did have the Lighthouse IPA. It was not bad. I like the artwork for sure. Looks like the lighthouse in Port A. There also a guy fishing on a jetty.

I love beer. Especially when it is hot outside and I have been sweating, but I will drink it anytime and enjoy it. I have found something to like in most styles, but I especially enjoy a good stout or porter with a hint of coffee or chocolate. Speaking of enjoying beer on a hot day, nothing refreshes so well as a delicious hefeweizen. Here are my top 10 favorites I have enjoyed over the years:

1. Deschutes Black Butte Porter (American Porter)- if you can find this and like a dark beer, buy it.
2. Abita Turbo Dog (English Brown Ale)
3. Sierra Nevada Porter (American Porter)
4. Sierra Nevada Stout (American Stout)
5. Sierra Nevada Kellerweis (Hefeweizen)
6. Harpoon Octoberfest (Marzen)
7. Breckenridge Vanilla Porter (American Porter)
8. Celis White (Whitbier)
9. Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA (American IPA)
10. Boulevard Bully! Porter (American Porter)

For those wishing to explore the world of craft beers, I recommend BeerAdvocate.com.

That's my wife's favorite beer - it's either Modelo Negro or Zigenbach (the other Texas beer)

Never heard of Modelo Negro?? Did you mean Modelo Especial or Modelo Light.

As the word implies, Negro is Modelo's dark beer, and my wife prefers dark beers. Not as easy to find as the Especial but worth looking for. To her, and myself, it is easily the best Mexican dark beer.
