The stars were lined up just right today.

Driving was good, was able to get to around 23 miles or so in 2wd. Road had some humps, but wasn't washboard.

Water was fair, could see bottom while thigh/waist deep in wade gut, but stained color. There was some old dead seaweed, not a problem, until around 5-6pm (tide started coming in).

Bait... LOTS AND LOTS OF MULLET.

Fish, a few (3 or four) hard heads, a few big skipjacks, two jacks around 16-18", perfect for Shark bait. 4 reds, all on finger mullet, 3 in the ice chest and a barely 20" (released). I tried cut mullet and cut skipjack, but nothing wanted it. This is only the second time I have caught reds in the surf, I know they are there, but can't ever hook one.

All the reds I caught where right on the back side of the first bar, I started the day overcasting them, until I was seeing the reds running around on the first bar.

Very few people out on the beach today.

Very good information. Mullet tends to equal reds, glad you found some.

Glad you caught some keeper Reds my buddy (Milo the Savage) went this past Saturday and caught some under size Reds no keepers. With all the bait swimming south the fish are getting a treat. Thanks, for the report
