Rippin lips, are you talking about La Ribera, if so that place is really good. They do have good food at great prices and the service is excellent!

That Mexican restaurant next to Morgan Seafood is La Ribera. I've had exceptionally good seafood there at a very reasonable price. They get their shrimp elsewhere and their fish from Charlie at Morgan Seafood. As far as I know, they have the best price and quality for fried shrimp and oysters.

I can honestly say that I have never stepped foot into Doc's. But Snoopys, Saltwater Grill, and that Mexican restaurant that serves (fresh drum) right next to the Morgan St fish market is off the chain !!!

**My deep freeze cooler in my garage is busting at the seams full of flounder, speckled trout, drum, and redfish. I think we need to do another world famous fish fry at your house Stan. **

That is a most awesome Idea..pm sent.

Talapia. Thats why the hungry fisherman closed. Anytime your selling a fresh water pond raised fish and try to pass it off as saltwater you won't last long.

If you want to be served what they have in the menu or on the blackboard, and you don't want it overcooked, go to Jay's, the Pasta Works & Seafood Restaurant in Pt. A. It will likely cost between $17 and $30 per entree, but they come with salad bar, and soup, and the sauces are unreal. I've never had a bad meal there, the fish is fresh, the beer selection is great, and the deserts are insanely good. So are the spicy mango margaritas. The pasta is good, too, if someone in your party doesn't want seafood.

Thank you for that remark...as I have not always been a perfect gentle nice guy, it comes with age and years of experience. Too bad that some people will never know the feeling. Yes it is quite the thread when it comes to dining cuisine. We now know who gets 1 star and who gets more than 1 star. " Dining in the coastal bend" the real truth. Me and Deb should have opened a diner years ago. It's too late now. My wife could corner the market on breakfast tacos alone.

So, basic opinion is that there is no really good place to eat seafood in the Port Aransas/Corpus Area?

The wife and I are going to be down that way for a week in mid-October, staying in Port A. It has been 5 years or so since we have had the chance to be down there to do any fishing and we like going out one night for a decent seafood meal, so we were hoping there was some place that had good food.

Nope - The conclusion was that La Ribera in Corpus had really good seafood at reasonable prices.

I started visiting the Rockport/Port Aransas/Corpus area back in the mid-80's.

One of my favorite spots was the Big Fisherman, back when it had the Big Cats and Monkeys and Birds.

I also fondly remember the breakfasts at Cline's Caf

Kline's had some good food. The Big Fisherman was really good back then. A lot of places now just slop it out there and call it food.
