Hey guys. I've been a long-time lurker in the forums and I just joined up. Glad to be here!

A couple buddies and I are planning a 4 day camping trip to PINS in mid-October. We are bringing a motorized raft to go out and hit a couple oil rigs. Are there any resources available showing clearly where each rig is off PINS within 0-10 miles and what MM they are nearest to? I heard the closest one is 2 miles off MM6? I could be wrong on this. Thanks in advance for the help!

I think it's illegal to launch any motorized craft from PINS and if it is, it's patrolled pretty consistently.

Incorrect. People launch zodiacs in the surf all the time off the national seashore. and while I am too lazy to look up the law on it, I feel confident that the people doing it wouldn'tdo it if it were illegal.

Motor doesn't matter. It all about the hull. Inflatables are ok.

I am no expert on the law but I do remember reading something that lead me to believe jet skis were not technically able to be launched from PINS. However, it could be a question of where PINS begins and end. If you look at google maps, and assume PINS in located in green it doesn't really even start until you are well south of Bob Hall. I asked the lady at the Bali Park desk and she said Jet Skis were fine, so that was good enough for me Smile

Whew, thanks. That would have put a big damper on our plans.

Any word on oil rig locations in relation to mile markers?

Ive never been out there but I know the rig that you can see from bob hall is only 1.5 miles or so and is suppose to be good for all kinds of stuff.

Just so you're aware, that big yellow rig at the 5mm is being destroyed this week. Most of the visible structure came down today and the legs should be blown up within a few days. Kiss the Spinnaker goodbye.

Thanks for the tip off Bob Hall. Does anyone know of any other rigs within 0-10 miles? I've got a 4x4 truck and we plan on going as far down the beach as necessary. Thanks in advance for the help.

Nothing really past the 5 mm on pins. If you wanna hit rigs there's more off mustang island
