That's a nice fish. I wouldn't mind having that boat and unlimited fuel to go with, and time for fishing and...maintenance. Wax on wax off. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

OK, I have a question...Is that fish to be eaten or was it killed for the photo op? _________________ FishLady

That was my absolute first thought too..........
Kind of impractical to keep anything that big iced down and fresh, so? _________________ Dave

Some people eat them (google "smoked marlin dip").
It wasn't killed for the "photo op" but rather some tournaments are "kill" tournaments and a dead fish on the dock is worth way more points than even several releases. Look at POCO.
Pretty hard to certify a "grander" (1000lb) marlin without killing it, not to mention breaking a state record.
Not a big fan of it personally, but what can you do. _________________ I'd rather be fishing |

This tournament supports catch and release...and requires video proof of all catches released. This fish was kept so they could receive the state record title. The fish will also be eaten!
Thanks for posting the pictures Tyler! _________________

On the news they said last night that the meat would be cooked and served at the tournament. _________________ HighTide

That's darn good to hear! How the heck did they keep it fresh? I know that baby wasn't caught 3 miles from the coast! _________________ Dave
