We'll told y'all about bob hall and that I was heading toward port A and now im here to give that report. Hit beach access road 3 on mustang and turned toward the sticks hoping I could get some baits run. The driving right there was pretty rough, but the water was pretty nice and weed was there but fishable. First bait was a fresh pomp caught at bob hall earlier this morning, that bait sat there all afternoon untouched, Same went for our dead shrimp and fishbites. Then we ran a whole sting ray the size of a dinner plate around 7pm, after sitting for 10 minutes I here the clicker go off twice, two short burst then nothing. As I sat there watching, the line goes completely slack so I grab the 9/0 and head for the dunes. Once I felt pressure I gave it a couple of good jabs and could feel a fish was hooked. The fish swam north up the beach and felt a little differant then fish in the past. It was a pretty short lived fight before the fish was in the wade gut, that's when it got crazy. I couldn't believe my eyes when we pulled a 58" long cobia that weighed 65# it wasn't the shark that we were looking for but was deffinetley a nice surprise!!![/list]

That's the great thing about fishing, you just never know what is going to be on the end of your line, until you get it in. Exceptional catch.

Congrats! Looks like it may have been a great day to head yo the track and bet on a long shot!!! Very Happy

If more folks fished the surf with crabs and/or live fish suspended under a float, that would probably be a much more common occurance. Wink And before someone comes back with the current issue, yes, I realize that there's a strong side shore current running most of the time down there, or most other beaches for that matter. Still, just saying.

Again: no risk, no reward.
