Hunting out on the shoreline right near the North Entrance into Hog Slough where I have been hunting the past few years. About 9 o'clock rolls around and a guy rolls up in an airboat. Thought it was the Game Warden and ends up being King Ranch Security who promptly told us we were trespassing on King Ranch Property. I was shocked when he told me King Ranch was claiming all the land around Hog's Slough and they have set purple posts everywhere which are supposed to mean no trespassing. They even BURNED down the blind I had been maintaining and hunting the past few years.

I can' I for one am not happy at all with this situation and I think it needs to be fought back at.

Wow. I would really like to see what the authorities have to say, if it's a legitimate claim or not, etc. Just because they put purple paint doesn't mean they have a legal claim. How was the whole situation handled?

tidal flats are fair game and not private. once in grass line then it belongs to them. corn the sand. shoot critter. if runs into grass. game warden then can assist you in recovery. we hunted losalmos creek for years and that was the rule.

Very true. You can hunt the sand but not beyond the vegetation line. I used to see feeders right near the waters edge all around Baffin.

Just got clarification from GLO. They leased all land in the Hog Slough area to King Ranch. Means we can't hunt above MHW so yes basically everything above vegetation line is off limits.

So you can hunt there as long as you're not up over the tide line?

Just out of curiosity, did security ask you to leave a shoreline, or the grassy area? I usually hunt the other side of the bay, so I am not familiar with that area.

And burning the blind, that's bull on King Ranch's part...they need to show a little respect...

Game Wardens stopped me while duck hunting in the Laguna Madre last week. Told me to stay away from purple posts if I hunt near the ranch. Must be legit if the Game Warden is telling hunters to stay away.

Surprised they waited this long too do it, they've had hell with poachers in there for years. The burnt blind looks like it's hugging the grass a little too close for comfort, but I'd bet it was someone that wasn't happy with 'their' spot being used that burned it. The Ranch ain't real keen on grass fires if they don't start them
