Can one ride a street legal dirt bike all the way down PINS? Have you done it? What are the drawbacks?

The beach is considered a public highway so any street legal vehicle is permissible as far as I know. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Smile

I've done it, had a hell of a time getting the bike clean again though. It seemed like every time I would work on the bike I'd find more sand. Crying or Very sad

I rode my R1200GS from the north access road to the Fish Pass jetties and back. If the tide is down and the sand is smooth and hard you could wheelie the whole 60 miles. If the sand is loose your front tire will find a rut and wash out pretty quick. I dropped mine 2 or 3 times going real slow in the soft stuff, laughing and hitting the kill switch on the way down, and the wife yelling at me.
I was down PINS about 7 miles over the summer and 2 guys on sport bikes rode past about 15 mph. The beach was super smooth that day.
Also, like Johninaustin said, it will take a long time to get all the sand out. make sure you pull the seat and plastics and blow everything out.

and not be smart.
