CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Corpus Christi Police and Fire departments were called out to a two-vehicle head on collision along Laguna shores near Hustlin' Hornet. One of the vehicles caught fire and flipped onto its side, the other ran off into the water.

Police received reports of the accident around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, down the street from the Flour Bluff Independent School District. No students were involved in the accident.

At least two people have been taken to the hospital, and there is no word on their condition at this hour. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.

Not a block away from where IMS lives. More than likely speed involved on that straight away. Some people think it's a drag strip. People are always speeding to get their kids to school. People also give you the finger if you do the required speed limit. Good thing no one was killed. Can't wait for IMS to say something about it.

KRIS at noon reported the driver in the SUV veered off the road, then over corrected, striking the smaller vehicle. They believe a cell phone may have been involved.

I know the driver of the SUV. She was only one in the vehicle at the time. She is at the hospital, shattered leg among other things. Not sure how it happened. Hopefully other driver is okay.

Now that a friend of mine bought a house there, I often pay extra close attention when traveling that road! Hope everyone is ok! :/(

There are a lot of things going on on that little stretch of road.

A speed limit of 40 m.p.h. despite the fact most people go either 25 or 65 m.p.h.

It is fairly narrow.

The need to watch for north bound traffic turning onto Graham road and not paying attention to oncoming traffic.

The transition from 40 down to 30 right after the Graham road turnoff.

People parking their cars & trucks too close to the road.

Oh yea, and almost forgot, the turn-off near the water line to IMS's compound. Ditches on either side. Very Happy

Yeah it was about 100 yards north of our street! What that picture doesn't show is the SUV on its side (that's how it landed) and engulfed in flames! Only 2 people involved... Both women......

Do you know why Helen Keller couldn't drive?

Because she was a WOMAN!!! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

When my son was a senior they got ran off the road where that Cain link fence went around that pond. They rolled over several time and would have gone into that yellow house if the Cain link fence had not wrapped around car and stopped them. That is one dangerous road.

It looks like a bomb hit the SUV. There is no paved shoulder on that section of road and in places the pavement drops off into ruts. Same thing on Waldron by the airport. I dread dragging a wide boat trailer through both sections. Just drop a trailer tire off one of those ledges and your rig goes ape.

Last time down Laguna Shores I was trucking about 35 mph and some girl driving a little disposable type car decided it wasn't fast enough for her. When she passed me the rubber bands in her engine were wound up so tight I thought something was going to pop!

The city had the opportunity to make that road wider, but they didn't do it. I was at a Flour Bluff Business association meeting a few years ago when they announced the scaled down plans.... They would rather spend 80 million on another boondoggle like destination bayfront instead of fixing our roads and infrastructure.
