Was going to head down to PINS for the weekend for some tent camping and fishing with my son. If still closed, how is Mustang Island SP as alternative?

Mustang has better amenities than PINS... every few hundred yds on the beach is a portacan, picnic table and fresh water spicot....the HQ also has HOT showers vs PINS COLD only and they have an area with shaded kiosks...
TPWD does so much better at their parks...
BUT it's not as remote as PINS, so it can be somewhat crowded...
try it... 5 miles of open beach... may be buisier than normal acct of the Fed Closure, but it's great beach weather now.
plus it's only a few minutes to a store for those forgotton items.

just head south from Bob Hall pier as far as the beach will let you go that's going to be the closest to being on the Padre Island National Seashore as anything else more secluded better fishing tightlines have fun

Surf trout and redfish can be caught at Fish Pass Jetty. I love the fact that they have added tables, bathrooms, and even a nice size cover neer the jetty.
