I've camped many nights in the past year
on the beach just south of bob hall pier. I'd leave
out two pvc rod holders and 500 bucks
in fishing rods, with 8-n-bait. In the middle of the night, if
a truck passed by I would flick on headlights
to see if my rods were still there....Never had a problem!

I awoke at 3:40 am today and noticed my equipment
stolen. Good thing it was ten dollars of pvc and
a cheap 25 buck "trout rod." I hope the thief or thieves
are offered five bucks at the pawn shop. May
the laugh be on me!

It sucks and is sad that in today's society you have to take preventative measure to keep your things from sprouting legs and walking off but that's how it is. The small amount that was stolen from you will pay off in lessons learned. I bet you don't do that again.

Man I hate thieves.

It total BS that a person has to worry about their property being stolen right out of their camp while their sleeping. Any future trips down there and I'm bringing my German Shepherd to watch for me.

We went to PIND for about 20 minutes last night. Well its pitch black. Scary how easily someone can sneak up on someone. Just went to enjoy the stars as the city lights steal natures beauty.
Did you see the news where a case of beer cost a man his life at the convenient store last night?

German Shephard and a 12 gauge pump or double w/ #2 shot. Might be the last things they ever steal. Train dog to awaken you quietly. Two big lights about 20 yds on each side pointing at your lines that you turn on when soringing the trap. Have a witness or two. Have them strip down to skivey shorts and then tie a 2x4 through their arms across their back with their hands tied in front. Take a magic marker and write on their chest - these men steal peoples property in the middle of the night. Drive them within a couple of hundred yards of the Ranger Station and dump them out. Take photos of everything you do. Before tying them - have them lock their keys inside their truck.

Looks like I might place a game camera on
my dash. Not sure how well it will hold up
with salt spray in the air and potentially
clouding the lense.

Lesson was learned! I'm fortunate to have four
other rods with me that were safe and in my
vehicle.

That's really sad man, but that seems to be the direction our society is headed. Take a look at the Roman Empire, the Greeks, Alexander the Great, the Ottoman Empire, etc.. and you will find that the attitudes and events (thievery, etc. - with no repercussions) we see today are exactly the same as those that occurred at the end of each of these great civilizations. What happened to you is just another sign we're headed down the tubes. Crying or Very sad

My GF is a asst manager at walmart. You would not believe the stuff people try to run off with. 60" TV was the best one so far. He didnt make it far out the door. Just so everyone knows, they have asset protection people in plain clothes on the floor.

In 1988 and still relatively young, innocent and didn't drink,
I moved with my family to a dry county in North Texas.
I wasn't one of the cool kids who partied -- yet
my older brother by 11 years was one. If we
had to drive 29 miles to Nocona (home of legendary boots)
or into Oklahoma, it was called going on a
"Beer Run to secure the golden refreshments." Being that I was still in school,
and that my step-dad worked in the oil field, in
1989 we moved to California where he was transferred -- where life
truly lived in the fast lane in Los Angeles.
....so, one of my first parties I went to was
to a run down, holes in the walls, punk-like
crash pad. I was designated driver and asked if I could
go "on a beer run." I agreed. Not knowing
cultural differences, I arrived at the store
and the older guy told me to park on the
curb, keep the engine running and lights
off..."Uh, oh," I thought to myself....He entered
store and quick exited with two cases
of beer. He yelled for me to step on the gas...

Another lesson learned!

I cant say reading a headline that someone was killed while stealing a case of beer would be the best thing I read all night. So much seemed to lack in the story and I didnt want to be quick to judge.

And I bet today the store owner wishes things where different today as he has been charged with Murder.

I am for gun rights and protecting your house and property but there has to be a reasonable man behind the trigger.

Too much trouble.

Zip tie them and leave them.

I pray this man gets a jury full of victims of criminals. I dont negotiate with criminals, plain and simple. Criminals all started out small, some got big, some got shot. Rodney was protecting his livelyhood and means of providing for his family. He was fed up with loosing money and was not going to be victomized. When you make a choice to commit a crime, you also make the choice to die. Life is all about choices, dont make poor ones. You can call me crazy, stupid, or whatever you choose, it dosent phase me.
