It's an Ugly Stick, send it back and see if Shakespear will replace it for you.

If you got it at Academy, they might swap it out. It looks like it was defective.

I bought it back in June of 2012 at Bass Pro in San Antonio. Have already contacted the Manufacturer and sent pictures and a proof of purchase. I should hear from them in 3 days. They want $9.95 for the shipping of a replacement.

Anyone else have a problem with these Inshore Select rods splitting or breaking 4" to 6" from the tip? Seen a few reviews of this happening.

In regards to rod warranty I had to use it on TFO fly rod.
$25 check plus shipping from me to them $7. New upgraded rod back in 5 business days. No questions asked.
Strongly recommend TFO rods.

I would not expect any service from Academy.
Last time I tried to get an exchange on an Uglystik they said send it to Shakespeare.

Probably due to change of ownership. And some abuse of their loose return policy. Seen plenty of rod and reel combos show up on Sundays after a weekend of fishing.

I wish it was that easy. They wanted pictures, proof of purchase, and contact information. At least the proof of purchase didn't have to be the actual receipt. They said it could be a credit card statement or bank statement showing the purchase. Didn't even have to be itemized. $10 bucks for shipping for Warranty sucks. The rod is only worth $50. I guess they have to pay their employees for processing the warranty claim. Still would like to know if maybe someone could fix it though. It would be a good backup rod.

Got an answer back from Shakespeare today. They are going to replace my rod but there is a problem. It is on backorder for 30 days. They want to know if I would prefer a different model. What do you guys think would be a suitable replacement?

Academy and I have had a few go round since they instituted their "new" return policy, but if you save your receipts they will take pretty much anything back

Well with "D1ck's" sporting goods moving in, I hope Academy gets better. But I have heard that "D1ck's" caters more to the clothing side than the actual sporting side of sporting goods. At least that is what the ones in San Antonio are like as told to me by a buddy of mine.

Here you go "Mad Hatter." Wrapped a size "C" thread and brushed a very light coat sealing the split and threads. I will let it dry and put another light finishing coat on tomorrow. It should be ready tomorrow evening. Thanks Wink Smile
