Was called to Municipal court jury duty this morning. Was not chosen. Came home and hit the honey hole. 2 drifts and throwing soft plastics in pearl, glow, plum and tequila. The only thing I caught anything on was tequila. Picked up 3-4 trout and decided to go to where I took Steve and Lauren the other day. Before I got there I stopped at a color change line but nothing. Went to start my motor and not a click. Sounded like it wasn't in neutral.

The way the wind was blowing it would take me in the direction of home. Fished while drifting home and picked up 5 trout. " When you are given lemons, make lemonade." Decided to switch batteries with my trolling motor one and it started right up. By this time I really wasn't into fishing anymore.

Battery is only a couple months old. have it on the charger and will take it to Wal-Mart for a check.

Sounds like you made some good lemonade.

And, you figured out it was the battery.

2 for 2.

Batteries aren't made like they used too. For my ham radio I use two 6 volt golf cart batteries from Costco - they store 225 amp hours which is about 6-7 times the juice of normal deep cycle batteries. I charge them using the $139.00 solar sets available from Harbor Freight. Each set puts out 45 watts and I have an array of 6 sets giving me 270 watts charging capability. Each 45 watt set comes with it's own charge controller too. They have a connector that will connect up to 8 sets of panels together at one time or 360 watts of charging capability. My goal is to have a bank of about 8-10 of the battery sets and run as much as possible using solar only.

That would ruin my day also. Sometimes it's just smart to head to the house. I hate being in doubt out there. About my boat that is. Smile

Good thing you had some sugar. Just going to have to start calling you sweetness.

went to North Packery jetty to throw some lures. Water was ugly on both sides. Very brown. Didn't waste my time.

Just an FYI, interstate batteries sells refurbished batteries for $44 with core. I bought a deep cycle for my trolling motor and have been happy with it so far.
