OK, so call me oblivious!
The other night for Super Moon, I headed out to the beach to snap some pics... and what do I find?? One awesome looking boat launch and parking lot!! LOL
This spot is BY FAR the nicest boat launch around. It bugs me to no end that I get my truck filthy dirty with mud/salt/muck at my usual launch (Clems)... then I spend 30 minutes just cleaning up my truck on top of cleaning up my boat after every trip. I just checked on google earth, and it looks like its about 2.5 miles more boat travel to get back to the ICW. I am really considering making this my normal launch site!
Do any of ya'll use it regularly? How crowded does it get?
What do you do for live bait if you're launching at Packery? |

| Those ramps are annoying due to the mess. |

Sure would be nice if the city would actually do the repairs they said they would at billings and clems. I get the feeling that the majority of the city is totally oblivious to the sport fishing community in this area.
The packary ramp is nice, a little steep, but it works. The long idle down the channel takes a little time, but if your worried about your truck getting dirty, then that is the ramp for you. |

I agree I always use the Packery channel ramp. Nice facility and for the most part very underutilized compared to other ramps.
It does piss me off though that some morons ripped some of the D-Fenders off. What's up with that? The have cleats on the sides of the ramp. However, even if you did secure a boat to them it should not be a problem they are pretty stout. Are people pulling off by pulling hard on them with their motors in gear? |

The parking lots for the Clem's and Billings boat ramps are to be started after Labor Day when the crowds thin out some. The ramps will be closed one at a time so the ramp approaches and parking areas can be constructed. If you need anymore information contact your city council rep.

I may start putting in there. 37 is not only busy but whatever that new building is, it takes up too much parking. Its bad enough bumping boats to park your boat but now it is a scrabble to park your truck/trailer. I had gotten used to the moon craters but hey if they make it right across the street, I am in. _________________ Wish I Were in Baffin |

I always launch at Laguna Shores Marina for the Laguna Madre and Marker 37 for the Gulf of Mexico. It is worth the fee to launch where you do not need to worry about wind or current since I am by myself 99% of the time. I always fish during the week so crowds are not a problem for me. |
