Last year I got an opportunity to be a part of a show on the Sportsman Channel called Dead Meat. It was an awesome time with some excellent people and definitely one heck of an experience! It aired back in January but for some reason I haven't shared it with y'all...but it's that gar time of year and I thought I'd put it up and get any other gar lovers like myself excited! Hope you enjoy...
On a side note...I wish there was a freshwater section on here bc I could offer up a bunch more reports since I get more chances to hit the river and lake. _________________ A country boy can survive
That's great Chad! Thanks for sharing. As for freshwater and corpusfishing...the salt gets the attention, but your freshwater Nueces fishing fits the bill!
I'm hoping to get some free time to go soon just trying to get as many hours in as I can right now while I can, also been itching to hit the beach _________________ A country boy can survive
Chad, I live off I-37 at mile marker 40, with house on the lake. Lots of longnose and gators still out there. I prefer number 4 trebles for longnose and 8/0 treble for the gators. Cut gizzard shad and carp are my go-to baits
Let me know if ya wanna hook up and ill secure the bait!

I've been dying to get out and do some gar fishing but work has been keeping me so busy lately, in Texas city right now then got another chem job in Victoria Friday...should finish this job up tonight and I was thinking about hitting the lake Wednesday and Thursday if I'm off, if so I'll send you a pm and hopefully we can get together and catch some monsters _________________ A country boy can survive
Looking like I'll be getting a lot if overtime this week with little to no time to fish I'll definitely keep you in mind when I get a chance to go though _________________ A country boy can survive
Thank you for the reply, Chad! I nailed well-over one hundred skipjack (ladyfish) yesterday in the surf, and saved around thirty of 'em to use as catfish and gar bait. I currently have them in a heavy saltwater brine to toughen
the flesh before freezing. I'm curious how it will rival shad, Buffalo and carp cut-baits!
