Any one ever fished down there this time of year? Headed down wednesday for a couple days with some family friends, of course there's some competition and jaw jacking among the group... Only problem is they've been going once a year for 20 years and i've never been. I've heard a few names like the community bar, might try the south end of the land cut. Lots of new water to cover, and not enough time. If someone wants to share any info on the area in general, it would sure shorten my learning curve. Open to all types of fishing- wade, drift, anchor, arties, bait, etc.

Thanks

The talk around Mansfield is Glades Hole, (South end of land cut) on live shrimp.

have fished down there a lot the end of May after Texas A&M would get out we would fish there for about 2 weeks before summer school started.

We would often fish the community bar drifting with live shrimp early. Run out the cut, pass the ICW run down about 1/2 way to the islands and cut north in about 2 feet of water. Shut down and drift when start to mark bait.

As the sun comes up head east to the flats and can start to sight cast fish.

An alternative is early east with topwaters or in the flats south of the cut but west of the ICW. South and east is the pipleline flats which are a great sight cast spot but gets skinny.

Late in the day as SE wind picks up more bait pushed west and east ranch shoreline (west side of bay) can be hot all the way to up north at Gladys Hole the slough at the south west end of the cut.

First time there this past weekend. Only caught 3 trout but all over 20. and few others boxed some fish. We got beat up by the wind but that is wade fishing heaven! Going back in august and the flats looked very nice just not holding fish where we put in. Good luck. We found the trout on soft plastics and waist deep water. Near a color change.
