If you need pure gas that is already mixed with oil, you can get it at of all places Wally World. They sell metal quart containers of 92 octane mixed gas for under $5.00. Very expensive if you are going to run an outboard (maybe a couple of cans for emergency use of gas trolling motor though) on it, but for chainsaws and trimmers which you use only occasionally and HATE to have to take them in to have carbs cleaned, it's a good deal. Stihl chainsaws adds a free years warranty to their saws if you use their brand of premixed alcohol free gas.

Cleaning the carb on my chainsaw each year - a worse ouch. Notice I did say that it wasn't for volume purchases!!! I probably don't burn 2 gallons of gas through my chainsaw a year - hopefully less than that.

Run all the gas out of your small engines. You know, dump out the gas and then let it run until it conks out. Your carb will stay clean that way. I have been doing it for years...no problemos.

Works until one of the kids or the wife forgets to do it and then - GUNK. Easier to just use good gas.

I bought a bottle of some from Lowes today. I drained the old stuff from my trimmer and added it. It instantly got rid of the idle and running issues it had. Will never mix my own gas for it again!

Won't work on chainsaws or tiny engines, but on mowers and reg engines and even easier way is to put in a fuel cutoff valve with a filter behind it in the fuel line. You can get inline cutoff or a 90 degree cutoff from autozone for about 4.99 each. Just flip the valve off and let the motor run out of fuel. Same effect but a lot less trouble.

I hear ya. Since it is used at such a slow pace, would you think adding Sta-Bil would be a good idea?

Fuel stabilizer...great stuff and works with mixed gas just as well.
