Brother-in-law is going kayak fishing for the first time tomorrow. Any idea what he needs to take with him? Live well on stringer in the water or bucket with bubble maker?

Thanks!

get all the safety gear first, read the outdoor manual, keep you from getting a ticket...

as for bait, i usually just tow along a bait bucket if i'm using bait while drifting, when i decide to move, i just throw it in the yak and move on.

Water temp is cool right now so just a bait bucket and some live shrimp will do. a stake out stick might be windy. have all your safety equipment. good luck.

And if you are going to be paddling a while make sure to give them a dunk so they stay alive

I saw an article today that said you can put live shrimp on sawdust in a small cooler with a few ice cubes and they will stay alive all day. It said they go in a trance or something and bounce back as soon as they hit the water.

That's no old wise tale. Ask any old timer how they kept shrimp alive.. too bad capt mikes not on the board anymore. Perhaps ST will be kind and share some of his know ledge

Sounding device (whistle) is required. 360degree light for 30 minutes before sunset to 30 minutes after sunrise.

I can verify the sawdust and ice trick, don't let it get too soggy. Wink
