I couldn't resist posting this. I learned about it yesterday and nearly passed out. They are building a free standing 42,000 sq ft building over by I35 in the Market Place, a near 1,000,000 sq ft shopping complex.

Ya, what gives? Thats just ridiculous!! They don't realize what kind of business they would get down here from not only locals but from tourists and out of town sportsmen.

You are totally right there. I love going to Roy's and ht there every time I am down, but adding another big store sporting goods store, Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops, seems like an obvious positive move to me. There are a tons of sportsmen and women down there and thousands coming in for fishing the flats and Gulf every week.

I normally hit Roy's, Tackle Town in Rockport, or Academy in CC when I need something.

Its awesome to see someone else who knows about Tackle Town. I started going to their store in San Antonio called Northwest Tackle. I started going there almost 15yrs ago and have ALWAYS had great service there like I do at Roys. The owner is one hell of a great guy just like Roy.

Here is what the Cabela's Outpost Stores look like; I wasn't sure how they would do a small site, but this looks very nice:

Agree about Roy's and Tackle town. Another choice that has excellent prices and a good selection is Port A Outfitters. Some of their stuff is the same price as Wal Mart. Also very knowledgeable about local conditions. Nice people.

Every time I visit Cabelas and Bass Pro I leave liking Academy better. While the competition is nice and they do seem to carry a better selection of rods and reels, overall I just am not that impressed. Eye candy, sure, but for hard core supply runs, meh...

IF THE CORPUS AREA CITY COUNCIL AND SUROUNDING CITIES WOULD COMMITT ON SOMETHING TO BRING IN REVINUE TO OUR AREA IT WOULD BE GREAT. BUT AGAIN THE TAX BREAK TO THE INVESTORS AND NEW INDEVORS WOULD WORK OUT IN ALL AREAS. IT WOULD JEPRODISE THE SMALL SHOPS AT SAME TIME. BUT THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF IDEAS OVER THE YEARS AND ALL COMES DOWN TO MONEY. FINAL ACCOUNT IS TAX PAYERS SUFFER. LANDRYS HAD THE IDEA. WOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT BY NOW AND BRINGING IN LOTS OF REVINUE TO AREA. BASS PRO WANTED COLLISEUM. BET NOW WE PAYED TO TEAR DOWN AND A 50 MILLION DOLLAR PARK WILL TAKE ITS PLACE THAT THE TAX PAYERS WILL PAY FOR. AND LAST I CHECKED A PARK DOESNT SELL TICKETS. IT ONLY EATS EP MONEY IN REPAIR AND SERVICE. WHY BUILD MORE PARKS WHEN CITY AND COUNTY SAY THAT REVINUE FOR PARK REPAIRS IS A EMPTY FUND.
