i am in a 5th wheel in Pecos right now with 60mph winds. Dont think I will be sleeping tonight with the trailer rocking this hard....then again I can dream I am on the boat fishing.

I remember when I was a young teenager camping in a pop-up on the bayfront and on the water side of the road and being woken up at around 7am to the trailer rocking so hard it was tilting on the stabilizers on one side and slamming back down. One side was literally in the air by about 6in to 1ft above the ground. That was one hell of a wake up call, lol. The high winds were coming off of the water.

Remember going thru that area in my son's 5th wheel. We were doing 70mph and wind was at out back. rolled down the window and you couldn't feel any wind. It was doing the same. When we turned east at Fort Stockton it hit us broadside. Holy crap! That was really hairy.

Wow. The area looks beautiful but I can see how the landscape can lead to huge wind gusts.
