| to the best of my knowledge it is, I've done a little research on them because I caught one on the mansfield jetty years ago that I thought was a guitarfish. I turned it loose, but after looking at the record, mine was bigger. Oh well, I didn't lose sleep not being known as the state record lesser electric ray record holder haha. cool video, and it looks like a good sized one |

Reminds me of the one BJ Noles caught and his dad grabbed twice after thinking the first shock was a fluke _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

I would concur with your ID. Cool video too.
If you can only see them from above, one of the ways to tell the Narcinidae (lesser electric ray - your fish) from the Torpedinidae (Atlantic torpedo ray) is the relative size of the second dorsal fin. The lesser has a second dorsal that is nearly the same size as the first, while the torpedo ray's is much smaller.
Now if you can turn it over (not recommended!! ), then the size of the jaws is the key. One has a wide mouth, the other has a very narrow mouth. Either way, very cool find. |

| No doubt that would have been a record on the fly, if you could get it to eat. Thanks for the post. |

Looks like a (Skate Skite) Not sur on spelling but it will shock you if you grabe it any where near its head. I cought one, one morning in the surf casting for mullet never seen one before tryed to pick it up and shocked me. Its not a bad shock feels like a 12v battery shock but will surprise you when you grabe it. But if you grabe it by the tail it wont hurt you. _________________ IF I DID NOT HAVE BAD LUCK I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY LUCK AT ALL!! |

That's a new one on me, so I looked it up. "Critically Endangered" !?!?!? That explains why I've never seen one...making the video extra cool!
