You guys might have seen that I'm gonna hit up BHP tomm and crash at PINS for a night or two ... Well this chicken-sheet friend of mine has been forwarding me links to all these horror stories and killings.. abductions yada yada down at the beach. I say nonsense but whatever ... Dammm Aggie! Smile

So my buddy is scared in his boots and says that he will only camp out if he can bring his firearm ... anyone know if that is permitted?

Anyone have any first hand accounts of Indian or La LLorona down there .. or is all an urban legend?

Pretty sure you can have your firearm. I know i take mine when i go. There is a thread on extremecoast.com's message board that talks about different stories from PINS. Its one of the top posts right now. Interesting read for sure.

In 2010 they enacted a law that makes it legal to have a gun in national parks under the same laws in the state in which the park is in.

So in Texas, you can have a gun in your vehicle under castle law, and if you have a CHL, you can keep your gun on you concealed.

I have heard of people open carrying while camping, but I have never seen it, and have none done it myself. To me that's a kind of gray area. Technically the law says you can open carry where you reside, but I'm not about to make the argument that where I am camping is where I reside.

This is from their website...

New Firearms Law

As of February 22, 2010, a new federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws, to legally possess firearms in this park. It is the responsibility of visitors to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws before entering this park. Please visit our state's various websites for more information:

TX State Home Page

TX State Statutes

TX Concealed Weapons Information

TX State Reciprocity

Federal law also prohibits firearms in certain facilities in this park. Those places are marked with signs at all public entrances.

I'm sure you're just messing with your buddy, but I don't blame anybody for wanting to have the ability to defend himself in the event a bad guy shows up...Smile

Thanks fellas ... i pack a semi auto shotgun in the pick up but this frady-cat wants to sleep with a Glock under his pillow! ... i tell him "who would mess with us down there anyway?" -- he comes back with some karakawa Indian tribe massacre stories ... this guy!

i ask if anyone of my fellow "brothers of the coast" have any personal experiences as anyone can post about anything .. now if one of my BOTC said they had an interaction with a tribal man or first hand account then that would be cool to hear!

Then I hear whining about no cell phone reception down deep and he is now looking for alternative methods of communication to civilization!
THIS GUY!!! LMAO!!

sounds like you should just leave him behind...we've taken females down PINS before too and it gets old after that first sandy night and they're looking to waste an entire gallon of water to feel clean

might want to bring some baby powder for your tender-footed friend Very Happy
