Does anyone have a special blend that they use? Looking for a good recipe.

Thanks

The Alice Fish Fry thread below has the recipe for king's inn style tartar sauce that I use. I think its off a bit from the actual recipe - doesnt quite taste the same to me - but its still great. I wonder if they use cracker meal like lots of restaurants as opposed to smashing up odd combos of ritz and saltine crackers? Who knows...

I make a killer tartar sauce using diced bread and butter jalapenos, mayonnaise, and a bit of yellow mustard.

Me and my wife experiment with tartar sauce I'm kinda traditional on the fish topping. I just don't use it if the fish is good and fresh and taste good. It to me is like putting A1 on a great steak. But then again I do like redsauce on my raw oysters. yum

Point well taken but thats a sandwich it would be awfully dry without tartar sauce like a turkey sandwich without mayo.

Agreed on the fresh fish. I just want new ideas. My dad has a pretty good recipe, I'm waiting on his call.

Had a Shrimp po-boy yesterday from Hammerheads in Fulto, it was really good! I do recomend it!

Well since you live over there and I used to live in Fulton near the airport back in the early 80's we only had Charlotte plummers and the Big fisherman. Hows about recommending some good places to eat over there. May have to check out Hammerheads . Oh and there was LAT.2802 if I'm correct. Me and the wife still like taking rides over there on Sunday we were young back then and had our 1st child while living there. Ok back to the tartar sauce subject.

I always receive compliments on mine. Don't know amounts I use, just what looks right.

Mayo
diced onions
minced green olives
sweet pickle relish
minced garlic
salt and pepper
dill
fresh lemon juice

Mix, chill and have at it.

Didn't know that I opened up such a big box with the mentioning of Kings Inn tartar sauce. Tartar sauce can be a special kick to fish, and other items, at the right time.

All enjoy!
