Wow Johnny that was pretty hard brotha!
I totally mistook this for being a friendly forum where enthusiast shared tips, practices, recommendations and rave about their catches.
For Pete's Sake JR we all know fish don't just stay in one place and never move! You could give me the coords and what's hot one day won't produce day after day!
Well now that I know you don't like to share you're years and hours of knowledge with other enthusiast and network and have comraderie out in the bays just make sure that when you hear that "Fred" is an Attorney and you find yourself in a pickle and want some advice be rest assured it will be paid forward in the same manner amigo
Years of schooling and thousands of hours spent in schools and libraries in my case were actually spent to help others out |

I really feel for those who don't have a lot of time to dedicate to hobbies they love. I used to be that guy and living, breathing work sucks. |
There is a line that i try and keep when it comes to showing people honey holes....
If you look at my reports im usually fishing with my best friend who has put his time in as well, guys looking to get into kayaking, or the guys that work non-stop and get a break once in a blue moon....
However, a majority of the people that come at me for honey holes have the free time on their hands to go out and find there own locations...
At first i use to give specifics but learned quickly that it will back fire. Potlickers and people getting after me for every kayaker they see in "Their" honey hole.
I wont leave you with a "in the water" or "oh just at baffin"...ill give you things to look for in every bay system that can work...hell i even posted up a map of baffin with details on it "although since then i have noticed flaws in it"
Besides fishing is never a guarantee, this last trip i had to change locations 3 times to find and stay on the fish and that depended on at hand conditions that i needed to see in person.
If i was to say a specific spot then the person could just end up wasting their afternoon which happens a lot! Then all of a sudden im the guy who gives a BS fishing spot?
Still with all that being said i am always inviting people out and people usually dont take me up on the offer...if ya kayak, dont mind high winds, dont mind night fishing, dont mind the drive...than get at me and lets go crush some fish...but again...when i say high winds..i mean stupidly high winds _________________

I spent months struggling to find fish (other than the occasional lucky cast) when I first moved to Port A. A few old timers pointed me in the right direction, but all that did was "narrow it down".
Not only does it take a lot of time to find the "right" spots, all that time and experience will eventually lead to knowing when to fish where.
Look at reports on here, look at the weather/tides relative to when you plan on going, and adjust accordingly. | I certainly don't intend to trivialize the hard work and time that you guys put in. Most people aren't afforded those luxuries, this is the only hobby I know where sharing and going the extra mile for fellow hobbyists is discouraged. It's a shame.

I understand, and I can relate. On the one hand, it's hard to say "go here, use x bait, and you'll get 'em" compared to "I'm not telling you anything, go find your own spots!".
Some of my best friends are damn good guides, and where they smoked fish yesterday, they skunked the next day. Yeah, there are "honey holes" that people keep tight to the chest. That won't ever change.
What I was trying to say is, look at reports on here, weather, tides, etc. and make an educated guess.
Packery seems like a safe bet most of the time. I don't know PINS near enough to comment, so won't. There is(was) a sticky with "no boat fishing spots" on here at one point, all of them can be good.
I fish offshore for a living. When I have a day off and things are right, I fish the Port A North Jetty. I would be more than happy to share what little I know about it, if it helps anyone catch fish and have a good time.
For the record, I haven't heard of anything going on over there other than hit-and-miss redfish action in the surf break. Other than the reports already posted on here. I'm waiting for another cold front (the next one after this weekend) before I go over there looking for fat trout.
(See my 'Packery Gigging" thread for a report there).
Not sure I'd try PINS or the jetties/surf this weekend with the wave action from this front...water looked dirty to me today.
Short answer, too many people giving up good spots only to find eleventy-hundred boats there the next day (or weekend). No offense, but I think the locals will agree.

1st off " FishMaster"( and notice, i did not call you "FRED" ) you have in past threads, asked for advice/tips etc. I responded with advice to the best of my ability!
In one particular post to this thread you asked if someone could share their HH..... To me....its not just a NONO...Its plain RUDE!
Let me ask you this....is it easy to become an attorney? Is this a title that someone is going to just " Give to you"...Im sure that your answer is gonna be NO, i had to work my a$$ off for it!.....Right?
I also know this....At some point you will be paid for being an attorney...So in return, maybe you could PAY some folks on this site some respect and not ask for someones HH....They worked for it!
....and dont come at me like" this is just a hobby" Because its not! Its my life....sad as it sounds...i wouldnt give it away...for nothing( pun intended)
With that said, i really dont know why i used the name "FRED"....its just the first name that came to mind.
I have never minded helping anyone! Ask those that know me! You just asked the WRONG question....and im not a bay fishermen....and if you were paying attention, you would know this!
Heres some free advice for ya....start at page 1 here at corpus fishing and READ! Then go to extreme coast....start at page 1 and READ! You wont regret it.
....and believe this JACK.....I would never ask the advise of an attorney that dont know how to FISH! _________________ SOUTHERN CUSTOMS

if you want my HH that bad, i do have to say, make sure to have plenty of $1, usually my HH's are the Palace, the Cheetah, Andy's Country Kitchen, Taqeria Jalisco #12365432.2
but in all seriousness, i fish when i can, i work 2 jobs and more times that not, especially now, i'm working basically 7 days a week, some of my spots i have known and was taught by family from back in the early 80's...i keep a journal with conditions, patterns, etc.....other spots i have run into and made note of it, other spots i have potlicked for the sake of potlicking.
i don't mind sharing, but what fun is it when you give someone an exact location, bait to use, what time, wait for what weather, etc....part of the fishing experience is exploring and learning....
like others have said, read some of the reports, the answers you seek are in most of the reports and some of the pictures...
BTW, downtown jetties, 8th rock on the right hand side has been on fire for trophy trout. _________________ Trophy whitetail and exotic hunts on some of the finest ranches Texas has to offer, www.mcoutfitterstexas.com

What kind of Attorney am in .... I would like to consider myself as a versatile Attorney with a proven track record in a specific area of litigation - but truth be known i do it all family, criminal, personal injury and workers comp.
So call me proficient or specialized in nothing specific, i am ok with that. It keeps me on my toes.
Back to the sharing of HHoles ...
I realllllly realllly didnt expect anyone to say 215.36.15 is hot .. HIT IT! BUT I did appreciate .. 8th rock on the North Jetty was hot last weekend .... and having known that i wouldn't plow down on the 8th rock but maybe fish the 6th or 10th rock IF IF i happened to be in that general area fishing that day.
as well as the folks who right reports and talk about their success between MMx and MMx .. trust me we all see it and read and this is also very good information shared and much appreciated by all .. maybe I just have the most amount of time to "sit in front of a computer" more than most or maybe I have no shame in asking for advice ... afterall its how most learn right?
My apologies if my questions were interpreted as freeloading or potlicking .. i was hoping to hear folks being informative or educational. |

| BishopRyan wrote: | | How enormously egocentric and shallow some must be to hold a fishing spot hostage. It must be one helluva life you guys lead if sharing knowledge of a hobby on a message board crosses the line of sanctity. I'm sure some here would sooner reveal their secrets to a spicy marriage than dare let another guy enjoy the fruits of a great day on the water. Afterall lines cant be crossed in the ultra competitive cut throat world of recreational fishing. I can understand an upper tier guide but acting as if fishing is some kind of personal passage of privilege that has to be earned rather than shared is as pathetic as taking grandma's cookie recipe to the grave. Maybe if some here would commit to helping others as much as possible you'd be rewarded with a greater satisfaction than secretive message board fishing hero. |
I fish the surf mostly.
It makes little sense to say, hit MM##, because the surf changes with the tide. It's a fluid situation. (har har).
So the best bet for the n00b is, pay attention, as the good Reverend of the Rod, Billy Sandifer sez.
Watch for bait jumping in the wade gut.
Watch for birds working bait.
Watch for structure along the beach, like a nice pinch.
Most of all, just keep your damn eyes open and WATCH.
Amen. _________________ Eat....Sleep....Go Fishing......>< )))'> |

| Quick story on locals giving up HHs. A couple of years back I was starting to figure it all out and I decided during a warm up after a front that south of Pita would be a good spot to fish New Years Eve Day. I was actually proud of myself as I had a reason for why my hook was going in that spot that day. Lo and behold......the only time I have seen IMS put up a specific spot was the night before and he said it should be on fire S of Pita. I went anyway and I could have walked across the water and not gotten my feet wet due to all the fiberglass. There were so many boats that it remined me of the "comedy of errors" you see at boat ramps. Another point to consider when the experineced say the fishing is on fire @ Shamrock, my guess is that the fishing is probably best at the cut...just saying. I truly appreciate the advice and tips given by many of you with a lot more experience than myself as it does help me figure things out on my own and enjoy this great sport. |
