I was out there Sunday and the mullet were thick. And again Tuesday, and there were none at first then they all showed up at once. But as the surf goes, you never know. One minute they are all over the place the next, you are casting 150 times for a dozen or so finger mullet. At least take some shrimp, so you can catch some small whiting if you cant wrangle any mullet. Better safe than sorry.

I may be wrong, but if those mullet don't look scared, I won't stick around and fish...I'll catch some in a cast net, but that's it...I move on to find some place else to fish.

I always take some live shrimp or fresh dead to catch a whiting or what not, and lord knows how many slot reds/black drum I've caught on fresh dead with a pink fish bite.

Same for me Bighead fishbites and fresh dead have caught everything on them. I was at the jetties on Sunday night and lots of bait but none scared. Didn't stick around long. One whiting caught and eaten.
Heading down pins on Sunday, my favorite place. Wish I knew it like Padre Billy. Good fishin to ya!
