AS TYLER STATES " ITS ALL ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP " I AM NOT A MEMBER OF TOWBOAT OR SEATOW BECAUSE IM RUNNING KINDA A NEW RIG, SO I HAVE NOT JOINED THESE ON THE WATER PIRATES. IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN TRADING CONTACT NUMBERS TO HELP WITH A FELLOW FISHERMAN IN DISTRESS ON THE WATER? I WOULD HOPE THAT IT GOES WITH OUT SAYING WOULD NEED THOSE WHO NEED A TOW, GAS, WHATEVER TO PAY UP FOR THE TIME OR GAS TO BE RESCUED. $ 40.00 OR $50.00 BUCKS IS BETTER THAN SOME HITS GUYS HAVE HAD TO PAY TO THESE OUTFITS!

Is this new? You normally pay by the minute, not charge by the call.

They may seem like pirates. But to me it is cheap insurance. My buddy was 40 miles offshore when his lower unit went out. Made the call and they came and towed him back. Cost? $139.00/year. Cost of tow? $0.00. I have a very reliable boat and I do my preventive maintenance. But you can never tell when something will break. Just my $0.02... Adios

Skipper

Plus it doesn't matter whose boat I am in.

Thats not too bad... my buddy who rolled his friend's truck down pins (that thread got shut down) had to pay...... 10,400 bucks to get towed to the ranger's station.

My Honda 225HP motor gave up with 162HRS on the motor. I was in the inter coastal at the mouth of Baffin. No body stopped to help so I had to call sea tow. They came and towed me back to Bird Island they charged me over $600 for the tow. My insurance company picked up the toe fee. I would like to have a network of people that would come help but it takes a lot of work and you have to have the time off to come and get someone. If we had a network of people to call and the person or people are at their cabins or fishing I would be more than happy to help.

Towed in quite a few people over the years, including a WAKEBOARD boat that had run out of gas and didn't know which way was shore. Getting those guys thru the mouth of the PA jetties was fun.

That said, I'll check on you and leave if all you are safe, I'm not going to blow a fishing trip because you failed at properly maintaining your equipment. Shocked Call Seatow.

Haven't towed anyone into Packery yet, but it's a matter of time. Better hope you launched at the Packery ramp, because that's as far as you are going.

Johninaustin, if you ever break down, be sure to mention to whomever stops to help you that you are a member of corpusfishing.com and you go by Johninaustin so we can continue fishing after making sure everyone is safe, and you then you can call seatow if you have phone service or a VHF radio on the boat. To all others I(and I am sure a lot of others here on this website) will be more than happy to help you out. Just because you do your yearly maintenance does not mean that you will not break down. See the comment from "Kadman"

I am guessing most people on this website would be more than willing to lend a helping hand or a tow back to civilization if requested, I know that I would help and not ask for anything in return.

I have got up and gone after a few of my buds who broke down down the bay while I was sitting in my easy chair. It always seems to happen on a Sunday afternoon. I may grumble and groan but it's a good deed in the end. I just hope when it happens to me I can depend on one of them to do the same. The true test...........

UNLIKE J,C, KADMAN AND OTHERS UNDERSTANDS MY POINT, I PULLED 4 GUYS BACK WITH A YOUNG BOY ON BOARD LAST SPRING IN HARD RAIN AND LIGHTNING AROUND FROM THE YELLOW CABINS TO MARKER 37. THEY TOLD ME A DOZEN BOATS HAD PASSED THEM BY. I WAS HAPPY TO HELP OUT THESE GUYS, AND YES I TOOK THERE $ 40.00 BUCKS AND A BIG HAND SHAKE. PULLED TWO OTHER GUYS IN AS WELL DURING THE SUMMER, SHORTER DISTANCE NO MONEY WAS OFFERED, NO PROBLEM, GLAD TO HELP ANOTHER FISHERMAN IN DISTESS. IF TYLER WOULD COME UP WITH A CORPUSFISHING.COM MEMEBER STICKER I WOULD DISPALY ON BOAT AND CABIN TO LET OTHER MEMBERS KNOW THEY COULD COUNT ON HIS READERS/MEMBERS TO DO THE RIGHT THING. JUST A THOUGHT, STILL WORKING ON FIRST CUP OF COFFEE.

i don't mind helping people even if it means blowing a trip out, but honestly, you have to ask yourself, if you bought that $50k boat, plus a floater or house out there, then why not pay the extra $140/year to get SeaTow for EXTRA insurance?

you don't even have to be on your on boat if something happens, as long as you are a memeber, you are covered....

call me crazy, but if i can afford the expensive toys, i want to make sure they are covered just in case something happens, SeaTow is cheap compared to other services.
