Well i tried to find someone to head offshore with me but i had no takers....

Looking at the weather i just had to make a trip...

I got to the beach and perfect was the word ...

cool weather and no breakers, life is good....

I made it to the first rig and was focused on some point of view video on catching bonitos in bait balls...

The fish werent busting consistently but i was patient...

I had my ribbons hanging down halfway in the water column, pretty much as a stand still looking for bait when i hear ZZZZZZ!

Fish on!

Pulled in my first king of the day!

In the kayak it goes!

I turn around re-rig and paddle back to the rig....again im at a stand still looking for bait and ZZZZzzzzzZZZ!

Hooked up again in 5 minutes!

In the kayak it goes! I have my limit quick!

Bonito were a no show so i decided to head to the other rigs to see if any kings were stacked...

Halfway to the second rig i hear *SWOOSH* in the water behind me..

i turn around and a big bull was following me, he came right under the kayak rubbing against it...

no worries its to be expected although this should have been my first clue to what was going to happen...

Almost there now when i got some company..a little humming bird joined me on my quest

I make my way to the big rig and it was on fire...

1 circle around would result in 1 king....

In one of the fights i had to tango with my other line and it wrapped around a rivet on my kayak...

I had to rush a release because of the boat that goes through there..

I started to paddle out of the way before i got run over and i feel a *thunk*...

When i turned around i remembered my line was wrapped around the rivet and a king hit it and popped it =/

1 lost...

I make a circle around the rig...ZZZZZ! pop...lost another..thats 2...

as soon as i quit yelling at my line the other rod goes off!

The fight took a little long due to him trying to run me into the rig several times...

Finally i have it yak side, im holding it by the tail head almost in the water trying to get the hooks off...

*splashing* *violent headshakes* a 6-7 foot bull came from under the kayak and grabbed the head of my king!

It took me about 3 seconds to realize im in a tug of war with a shark over a king and i just let it go...then my rod starts bending..son of a gun took the hooks!...

10 seconds of drag and pop goes my mono *sigh*....

I decided to call it a day and head in...i was out of ribbons and rigs...i started to troll a Williamsons ribbonfish lure and a bomber rattle trap...i pass the 2nd and 3rd rigs and they both start singing!

I somehow manage to not tangle and get the first in the kayak...i set the rod back but forgot to engage the reel so my ribbon starts its slow decent without me knowing...

meanwhile im fighting the one that hit the rattle trap and i hear *bird nest*

i start turning...another king hit my ribbon lure on the fall...

got the king in tossed it and went to work fixing the mess on the reel and after a fell sketchy moments i was rewarded with the biggest of the day..45-46"

after all this i only lost 1 more king that straightened out the hooks on the rattle trap....

at the end of the day after checking the photos i had 9 kings landed and 5 lost....

no bonito or smack action but i dont care much about those..

the surf was still down to nothing when i hit the beach but picked up to 1' when i left...

Killer day to myself nice and peaceful with a king interrupting every now and then =)

Till next time
Life is good...

And by the way, I had a humming bird land on my rod while I was walking out to the 3rd sandbar to cast my bait! Fearless little guys!

Great report. We went out today also in the PB. I had kings cut me off a couple of times trying to fish for snapper. We did not catch any keeper snapper, all were 14". We did catch a Cobia that was also to small, countless triggers, also to small. But, on the way in we hit a big school of Bonito and fished till we got tired.

Had a wren land on the boat and spend most of the day with us. He landed on both me and my buddy a few times. Not sure when he left but he stayed with the boat for quite a while.

Cool report. Be careful on those solo trips. That shark could've had your hand.
