Killer on the body that is

First a mini baffin report...winds were killer and so was the chop...it was pretty ridiculous to be out there but i needed a fix...

Pulled in 3 nice drum and other then that nothing =/ my 20-30-40 drum nights usually go hand in hand with wind but i guess even this is too much for them...

Mayan princess!!!

Had a rough start on friday...set the alarm for 5..i woke up...thought i set it for 5:30 so i dozed off again next thign you know i wake up at 6:30 Oh no!

Scrammbled to get everything together and on the road....

a wrong turn in the bluff..then finding bait...didnt get to the water until 8:15ish....

luckily tagdog and salsa were still around and getting ready!...

as we rigged up prof rolls down the beach to join us!

Surf was nice and away we go!

As usual i'm horrible at my timing and slammed into every dang wave but life goes on!

Me and Salsa get to the first rig at the same time ...i got my ribbon on quicker and started to troll...by the time i turn around hes drifting away...pretty far...i think nothign and continue...

a half hour later i cant see him and glenn suggests that he got sick and went in ...ok i thought no biggie..

Trolled around the rig watched glenn pull up a flounder....then here comes salsa...Limit of Kings!!!!

Thats a first hahahaha good vibes the rest of the day....i made my troll around the rig nice and slow keeping it in the middle of the column and before you know it ZZZZZZ! Fish on baby!

Put up a killer fight and actually took me into my braid....managed to wrangle it in and get the win!

pretty pumped now and feeling good...i drifted a good ways from the rig and while heading back i see glenn fighting something nice!.

Its a king!!!

About now im feeling cocky and turn my video on while i troll..50 seconds later i have the initial hit of a screaming run on video FINALLY!

after a nice fight i manage to boat my second king of the day! Whoop!

Spent the rest of the day looking for spanish...managed to pull one in out of the mayhem going on...

i hooked a few more but they bent the hook on the jig and it really didnt work anymore...just for laughs i would cast in and count the # of hits i would get...22 was my highscore...

Me and glenn decide to move to the next rig and see what was around....at the last stand pipe im watching him jig and slowly see his rod behind him bend then sing that beautiful tune!

He boats his second of the day!

That was about it for that trip...i had one more catch the back half of my big ribbon fish missing the hooks..

Trip 2!

Woke up around 6 and made the journey to the sand....

Not many pictures from this one..

Made the paddle out with spots and hung around the first rig for a bit...lot of kayakers so we kept on going to the third rig....

*note* I was trolling a massive ribbon fish...my king rig is a j hook with 3 trebles behind it so its pretty long and it only covered half the ribbon....now

we see birds...lots and lots and lots of birds...decide to make the paddle out which was to a farther set of rigs...

when we get there they scatter so we make the best of it and split up heading to different rigs...

on my approach i get a good hit zipping line...then nothing...i check my ribbon and the back half was taken clean off missing the hooks *sigh*

i re-bait with a ribbon that was bigger and kept fishing..

while jigging i had a massive strike taking a lot of line then nothing..lost my jig =/...

after a while spots comes back and we start paddling back to the group...on the way he manages to pull a decent king!...

we get to a rig where my buddy robert was waiting...we were both tired and decided to troll around the group of rigs and head in for the day...

on the way i start talking to tombo, he takes off leaving me in the dust in the adventure right after this i get another HUGE hit..thought forsure i had it this time!..Nope...it comes off and i see a monster king rocket the surface in front of me and take off...my ribbon...bitten in half missed the hooks... *sigh*...

eventually i meet up with spots and robert just hanging nothign much going on ...i see a ball of little minnows..not getting bothered just gathered being little minnows doing little minnow things.....

for laughs i throw my jig past them let it fall then jerk it back then repeat....was talking with the fellas then *thunk*...i stuck something....ZZZZZZZ!

im watching line come off my baitcaster...uh oh...i think its a jack....meanwhile spanish start going nuts over bait and robert goes to follow...i end up pulling in a nice king on my trout setup hahaha how about that..

thanks for the pics spots!....

i regroup while spots and bert chase birds....catchign up to them we pretty much just went around chasing birds and catching spanish mackeral...

when it calmed i look down and all the spanish are under me...i start trying to jig them and out of no where a small school 15 maybe chicken dorado (mahi mahi) some by...i tried but no takers..so cool though!

we get back to the rig and it was just a case of waiting for spanish to blow up bait...my jig is toast now..

Shout out to Tagdog who got his first king! WHooooo! Was sick brotha!

2 days of non stop off shore action..covered a easy 25 miles thinking closer to 30....

It was exhausting! BUT i cant wait to do it again!

With cooler weather coming you can look forward to me trying for some redfish action like last year...

Till Next Time..

Im Pretty Jealous.... I hit my honey rigs Thursday and caught 6 kings trolling within 2 hours. Went out to the 3 sisters off BHP and got NOTHING....... ALL DAY! Every time I go out to those rigs I always say it is going to be my last time "I wont do that again" Too bad I never learn!

Nice report, looks like an AWESOME day!
