|
|
My daughter's car got sideswiped in a Stripes parking lot and the 'pillar of society' ran off. The cops basically told her to take it up with our Insurance. She is fine and luckily was not in the car when it happened. Damage is not too extreme.
Remembering how fast the "cooler thief" was ID'ed here, I was wondering if any of the Junior Private Eyes out there could look into the following vehicle:
Grey/Pewter Chevy (don't know model or year)
License # 61G DVZ
Any help would be appreciated. [Props to the Stripes employee who took down the license for her].
Thanks, CS |

The exact quote from the Law: "It was on private property, take it up with your insurance company" |

They gave me that same quote too when a car ran into me in a parking lot. The insurance took care of it but of course my rate went up. The other driver was found at fault too! _________________ I like fishies |

I was a cop in Kansas City and most of the traffic ordinances were road offenses. There were exceptions like DWI but private property incidents were not covered in the ordinances.

That blows. Btw..i saw that the license plate # you gave has the letters "DV" in it. That may mean the plate is registered to a disabled vet. If the license plate return does not belong to a vet, the last character in your plate may be a "2" instead of a "Z". Texas license plates issued to pickup trucks tend to have two numbers, three letters, then a number ...... or one number, three letters, and two numbers. This series applies to the plain 6 digit plates, not the newer 7 digit plates with the red/white/blue scheme on it.

It looks like no one had any luck on your hit & run, CS. Here is what DH found- or didn't find, on public data.com. 61G DVZ, 616 DV2, 61G DV2, & 616 DVZ came up "no record". He was wondering if maybe there was a number left off at the end, so added 1-0 & those came up empty, too. He's wondering if it could be counterfeit.
I'm so sorry. DH has had 2 company cars totaled by hit & runs- one when my mom & I were with him, & one, he found but the other, not. So I know how you feel (Freakin' lowlifes!)
People are creatures of habit. Maybe the clerk would keep an eye out & the locals here will, too? (Y'All are good at this!) |

Any chance they have surveillance cameras in the parking lot? |

go through your insurance company. We have so many resources to find some one it is scary. If they offending party does not have insurance, file under your uninsured motorist coverage if you have it. |

Thanks so much for the efforts and the PM's. If the plate numbers was wrong to start with, we are kinda stuck with the insurance route. Luckily she does have both full coverage and un-insured/under-insured motorist coverage.
Just hate to see her rate go up because of some worthless puke who can't own up to the mistake of hitting another car. But then, with the insurance compliance rates in not just CC bit most of South Texas, it's really not all that surprising. |

Hit and runs are almost invariably because of two reasons. DWI or the person is wanted. (no driver's license/insurance, outstanding warrants, etc)
The driver is more than likely, a regular customer at that location. People tend to use the same stores over and over.
That said, finding the truck isn't really going to help you at all. You need to find the DRIVER.
Speaking of the cooler thief, that Ranger was at Roy's a couple weeks ago. |
