Was bored today so I walked out behind my apartment and threw my new bait caster with a silver minnolure. I could see and hear a bunch of fish but couldn't see what they were. They were everywhere! I eventually caught a nice keeper flounder but that was it. I wish I could tell what was swimming in the shallows all around me. They were silver bigger fish not bait and I don't think they were reds. They were swimming in a foot or less of water and would not bite anything I threw in front of them. Maybe y'all could tell me.

Thanks, Andrew

Yup. It's still hard for me to tell the difference without seeing a dot. I'll jus keep casting and casting till I see a dot or see enuff tail that I know it's not a red. Lol

if youre coming down ocean to the base, go over the bridge then go right down the side of the bridge till the water and park. Right there in front of the bridge is usually good right before daybreak, you can wade out about chest high before you hit the channel. But anyway, if you are standing the and look towards the base, you can see the wooden pier.....walk parralell to the shore till you are even with the pier, its all hard sand. Then walk straight towards the pier, there is a dead leg over there from the channel, but dont worry, its not too deepwalk down the left side of the bridge and thats where theyve been lately first thing at day break. After about 8 or so, they have been moving out towards the end of that pier where its about waist deep. Some NICE trout mixed in there too. I think i might be going out there sometime this week, ill let you know. I know that area like the back of my hand!

It was very nice of you to share your spot, and how to get there!!
I checked it out on google map (satellite view) and can see what your talking about!!
Dang, I won't be there till 1st week of Sept, and we will stay through end of Nov.
What were you using for bait??
Not winter Texans, but fishing Texans!!

Thanks again for the report and info

honestly, the reds are up so shallow, and theyre so aggressive, almost hasnt mattered what you throw at them! and it seems like everyone of them have been over 20"!!

I have been finding the reds in all depths from sticking their backs out shallow to 3 ft deep in schools of 50 to 1000 they are everywhere. The tower boats should not have to burn very much at all. Going to be a great winter. IMS
