you're missing the point.

he was driving like a total ****(( on a beach full of kids while making his heroic rescue.

I've stayed out of this until now but I can't take it anymore...................

Just because you disagree with someone's viewpoint is no reason to bring out the labels: A.K.A. basher, hater, whatever-ist or whatever-phobe!

The copter would have been the best response because it's infinitely faster and would have put nobody on the beach at risk, and as to landing on sand; ever heard of Iraq or Afghanistan? Cripes, if our troops can do it then the coast guard or whomever else shows up can too. Sure it may not be the best thing for the turbines, but they are called for "emergency" response!!!

As to law enforcement and bending the rules, remember the old adage "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely". It's a feather in the cap of MOST LEO's that they keep this under control. Still, and sadly, many don't.

Nobody should ever expect a fast immediate responce to an accident on PINS. Remote location, its part of the risk you take being there.

I wonder what people would say if they saw a city cop driving 50 MPH through a school zone while responding to a car crash?

I certainly don't begrudge a fast emergency response by law enforcement, it's just that I know most of these folks like OFTII and they are describing a scene I have never witnessed at PINS where folks low on the beach at the waterline felt the need to be afraid as the ranger can flying through. Now I can see that the higher road would beat you to death so I understand going low ( the jeep nearly beat me to death at 15 mph last Saturday south of Bob Hall).

I've seen the rangers haul by the waterline where no people were and even into the water a bit but never at a dangerous speed close to people on the beach.

Tyler, going south next to the water would be driving in the wrong lane; north-bound traffic and pedestrians have the ROW according to PINS rules.

Wow, I can't believe what I'm reading from you, you must be an instigator looking for some fun, you couldn't possibly be serious, RIGHT!

And appearently you didn't read ALL of the posts, no passengers on the return run, no emergency vehicles (Ambulance), no Halo flight, no Coastgard chopper or boat. This would indicate that the rollover was not serious enough to put (how did you put it) LEO Bashers in harms way.

Someone said you might be the speeding idiot or the rollover victom, I hope you were! Perhaps if you are one of those two, now you know how most folks feel about what took place in one of our National Parks. Not to mention the risk both put others in as a result of a serious case of DUMB supple bum.

Not sure if you plan on hanging around this forum but, remember, First Impressions can be lasting.

Besides, it doesn't seem as though you like us very much.

Now! Bash Away!

I think most of you know that I don't usually engage this sort of thing but this guy just tripped my trigger.

By the way, I think there are always areas on PINS where someone in need could make up some time and still slow down around people.

At the speeds you guys are indicating! It would seem this guy was endangering not only the by-standers but perhaps himself as well.

Some jurisdictions have policy in place where they won't risk high speed chase in certain areas. While PINS is not particularly high in population, it would still seem ill-advised to speed.

Someone should call Donna Shaver, I'm sure she will put a stop to it.

This could have killed several turtles Rolling Eyes

All kidding aside, there were options, they were not exercised. Coasties could have put someone on the ground a lot faster and safer, how were they notified of the rollover, were there reports of injury? This is the sort of thing that should be looked at and discussed. reasonable folks would probably agree that this would not be the preferred way to respond.

I was thinking the same thing. If those clowns had hit a turkle, Donna the turkle lady would have the Park Rangers banned from PINS.

This is the last thing I am going to say about this cause I dont wanna get drug in to this and have everyone hate me.

#1 I wasn't there so I cant even say what happened from either view point.
#2 I couldn't find it in the law book right now cause I've been to busy but the law does give us the right to dis regard all driving laws with DUE REGARD TO THE PUBLICS SAFETEY and only DURING AN EMERGENCY. Not on the way home from work. Also keep in mind almost every department has a policy that resticts you greatly about how you can drive, for instance mine says no more than 10 over the speed limit regardelss, I'll tell you right now for example when I got a call of a infant that had drowned I went as fast as I could safely go, and you know what I saved the childs life with CPR.
#3 To the guy who said if your head gets clouded you shouldn't be a cop, tell me you have never made a mistake and I'll agree with you. No I'm not going to shoot someone, or arrest someone when I shouldn't have, or even endanger the public as it appears the park ranger did, BUT, I do make mistakes, not many people experince the adrenaline rush you get with this job sometimes and trust me, it is a powerful drug that makes you rely soley on your instinct and training, that why we train so much. If you were not taking a dig on me good, it just seemed that way.

Hope I didnt make anyone mad with this post.

you guys want to know what happened. some dumbass (who i know) decided to get sloshed and drive home. i know that explains everything.

hot dogging a truck that wasnt his. hit a soft spot, and instead of pushing in the clutch or removing foot from gas petal, he down shifts and floors it. tires get caught and he heads straight to the water, panics and whips the wheel back the other way flipping the toyota. i dont know how fast he was going and dont care. this is a very touchy subject for me, as it involves me.

Dont mean to push any buttons... I have also had problems with the rangers in the past.... But... i havent seen anyone post what was actually out there

me and my buddy were driving down Sunday afternoon it was around I would say about 8:30pm... at about the 7-8mm a BLACK 1ST GEN TACOMA had flipped onto its cab in the water... the tide had already gotten to the truck and was still rising. There was an older man in a reddish-maroon 90s chevy Z71 that had stopped that we talked to... said he had talked to people in the flipped truck they were alright, and he had already called a wrecker...

Stayed till Monday afternoon, caught some trout, red, whiting and at 3am a 5.5'+ Bull.. couldnt get an exact measurement because she pulled us far from camp.. didnt get the bright idea to measure her against the rod until the next morning. But sure she was over 5.5
