|
|
| I'm totally new to fishing salt water, as well as wading. I have pretty minimal experience as a bass fishermen (stock tank fishing). I am getting in to the sport pretty heavy and I have to admit I do think I am addicted (been about 10 times in a month). I live in Portland and would really appreciate some tips for wading Nueces bay, I know no body is going to give me their honey hole or anything but any help is appreciated, as well as safety tips. |

| I would go to the causeway to wade. It gets real muddy in there in some places and lots of oyster reefs. I have tried wading in there and sliced my wading boots pretty good. Now i just take a kayak when i want to hit the portland shoreline. |

Tough bay to wade without a boat to get you to the spots. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

| I've been told I can wade all the way down the causeway till I get to the channel. I don't know if it is true or not? Where else is there to wade that is decent. |

That's about it unless you have a kayak or boat to get you further into the bay. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

| Coming from Portland pass the motel abigails and there is a slot where you can drive on the sand. You can get in the water from here. If you look straight, you will see an island infront of you and a duck blind to the left. wade to the other side of the island there is a oyster reef there with aggressive trout and skippies. Also the area you will pass holds plenty of fish and its shallow. The burms start right there on your left which hold fish aswell. Remember to wade with caution the areas around the burms can get deep. How deep? I'm not sure, so be very careful. Soft mud, stingrays, and depth keep all those in mind while you're out there. |
