this is a video Smile

went out to bob hall for a bit..
had a really nice king hit my slide more than a few times without hooking it up(he was after my 5inch pinfish)
went to the surf to get more bait, when my wife and kiddo showed up(i always hook one when they are on the pier)
i caught a 6inch pinfish and about 200 baby watermelon shad..

put on the pinfish and slid it out.
the wife and kiddo started chumming the gut with the watermelon shad
just seconds later we had multiple kings feeding on the "chum"
ended up hooking a 49inch king(pretty sure that my longest from the pier so far) was holding my rod when it bit..fought it hard and was victorious
gave him away to a friend and headed home Smile

he was seriously hooked by one of my two j hooks in the nose..caught it on a trevalla jigging rod and a tynos 12 two speed with 80pound braid..was looking for a tarpon..maybe next time

my wife got a nice video of it too, not sure if i can get it off her phone yet though..
Till next Time..He who shall not be mentioned out..
peace, light, and love

Nice king!! When ever I fish without the kids I get skunked. I was at the PINS today but only caught a few trout and typical whiting. I did manage to hook onto something big with a pink skitter(not sure if thats it's name, cost me 7$ at academy) second cast and the water blew up, stripped my new 20lbs braid and broke my line!!! So I call that a good day, lol. Great catch He who shall not be mentioned!!

i grill mine(i sometime bake it or fry it)..i put brown sugar and maple syrup on mine as well as many other things..if done right it taste great..the main thing is try and take them under 40inches and bleed them and/or get them on ice while still alive..
i gave that one away..it was a bit of a beast..only 23pounds though..pretty light..
its almost hard to find a bait that wont work
blue runner, watermelon shad, bluefish, small jack cravelle, pinfish(its the spikey perch lookin thing with stripes) piggy perch, mullet, ladyfish just to name a few will all work fine..we use baits all the way up to 20inches, bigger baits are almost always better..
they do have days were they will only eat one kind of bait..just ask what others are hooking them on and follow suit..
this last week the kings have been caught everyday i'm pretty sure..i don't see it changing..just get out there and put some baits in the water Smile

it takes more effort to make the shirts than i would care to sell them for..
i have to wash them 5 times after wards and the process' is taking me many hours to complete to get them to look like those..

i have never felt too good about sliding on the T(specially sliding into the waves)..it seems a little bit like luck to me..more tarpon are hooked up there though..
some people are better up there..i am better in the gut..
i consider fishing the gut pretty much science..
that deep water is a fish highway that holds tons of fish most of the time..
i probably should have lost that king a few times..i got hung up on a few other slides, and had to have someone get in the weather tower thing..you hand them your rod and they hand it back on the other side..
thanks to all for the help:)
you can see in the video we tried to lift it by the leader without the gaff in it..if i was using trebles it most likely would have gotten away..
i am glad i made the switch to J hooks, haven't lost one yet this year..
its gonna pay off when i get that Tarpon hooked
i am using two 5/0 gamagastu live bait hooks about 4-5 inches apart on 58# single strand wire..
i only hook my bait once just behind the head..and just let the other hook hang..
