Howdy!

I have been planning a fishing trip to PINS and have really been excited about checking out Yarborough Pass for some wade fishing. I have called the recorded information line for the last few weeks and today it said the pass was not accessible.

I understand there is a lot of turtle activity but does the county/state unblock the access frequently?

Thx

I actually called and the guy who answered said it was open despite the recording...however, some gal in the background was telling the person I was speaking with that "there is no way to get through"...

most of the time i walk it first.. even when it looks nice and packed. i have had to pulled a few idiots out of there just so we could get back out.

word to you 4x4 big boys.. stop intentially tearing it up.. nature does enough of that..

pims has stated it to be closed many times, unless tide is so high the back road is soft mud, just take it easy..

Great advice snake, and plain old common sense to me at least. Even though I have 4 wheel drive, I NEVER drive into anything unknown and/or iffy without walking it first, it's just cheap insurance! When I'm deer hunting and get to a bad mud hole, I'll walk BOTH sides and check for ruts and deep holes with a stick. Even with both axles locked, 4 wheel drive is totally useless when you're high centered, and the same is true of sand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shocked Rolling Eyes Embarassed

I always walk that first as we normally get a running start. You want to make sure nobody is coming up back out of there as you are heading in under speed.

Be careful!

I called and spoke with the folks at PINS. They do not have any immediate plans to take any equipment to the area and scoop out the sand drifts. They said to hope for rain.

Guess you could walk it, then give it a little artificial rain where needed. Cool

the ladies at the PINS gate seem to err on the side of caution. i doubt it's ever officially closed but just difficult at times which they translate as closed/inaccessable on the recording
