Wow. A woman murdered recently (in the Coastal Bend, I presume) from an attacker with a baseball bat.
Also recently a man receives a fractured skull at the hands of a bat-wielding attacker.
I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain thd Caller Times, plus the two TV news stations, would be all over these types of similar attacks.
I'm not saying it didn't happen. Just that media loves these stories dealing with personal violence. If it bleeds, it leads...
Remember how gang members were supposed to drive around with their headlights off until someone flashed their high beams at them? Then they'd follow the vehicle and do terrible, unspeakable things to the driver? Turned out to be a hoax.
Don't get me wrong, random acts of violence due occur. More often, though, thd victim knows the perp. |

| Carry a gun, save your life. And be hyperaware of your surroundings. I fish ALOT at night, and I am always on my toes if im alone fishing my favorite spots. |

Thanks for the heads up. |
no one gets within 20yards of me without me making them aware i know they are there...
i judge bullet penetration on everything i pass by, and profile every person i see or meet....being shot will do that kind of thing to you
weapons are more noticeable than most would think, even beneath clothing..
i am perceptive when it comes to poeples emotions and motivations |
HMMMM, walking ninja, Navy seal wanna be, but very strange to be judging bullet penetration on everything you see. In my opinion well nevermind. 100% certified. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED.

Agreed on both points. It never ceases to amaze me how much of humanity is "asleep at the wheel". Even at the grocery store or Wallworld, you can walk up behind people with a NOISY "flop, flop flop" shopping cart and them blocking the isle, yet they have no idea you are there and act surprised when you say "excuse me"!!!!! _________________ Dave

Thats just fine and dandy , personally I think everyone is tired of hearing about you getting shot in the neck. It's more than likely that it could have been prevented since it happen here in the USA. There are alot of real young men out there that have been shot, blown up, and burned serving their country and they did not ask for it nor are they bragging constantly about it. They did volunteer and servr proudly. However as a vet I would much rather hear their WAR stories than your's. I also don't walk around in fear everyday. Fear promotes fear and it truly sounds like your fear is going to mortally hurt the wrong person oneday ( hopefully not). At first I just saw you as a young guy who was trying to 1 up on everyone. You don't have to do that as we are just a bunch of regular guys on here making an honest living and enjoying life and our time off. It's not a competion. Your comments were just out of the ordinary infact way out. Just my opinion and I know everyone has one AND ON TOP OF THAT I'AM A REALLY NICE GUY......IMS _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED.

A gun or any type of weapon is not going to help much if a guy runs up behind you in the dark with a baseball bat. I say go about your business, have fun and live your life without being in a state of constant paranoia. Be aware of your surroundings and try to protect yourself and family if need be. If you do have a weapon on you please dont pull it on me if I ask you where the butter is at HEB or how the fish are biting on the beach. _________________ Grind |

I don't have my CHL but I do carry when I feel it is needed. I am seriously thinking about adding a helmet to my arsenal. |

You guys are crazy! lmfao! for you gun-toting, standing still, target practice shooting fisherman (this is a fishing forum?). There is a big difference from shooting cardboard cutouts and shooting moving targets and being shot at simultaneously. So while i'm Standing on this Great Nation, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave I have an opportunity to stop being a target and fish!
Fortunate enough to have met several great fishermen on this site that have given me the opportunity to get some! Fish that is!

| Licence or not, you have the right to protect yourself. I carry a gun whenever I go out. Was this on the news? |

Bottom line is that even the hyper-vigilant can still be blindsided.
A man is going to carry a firearm if he feels threatened, CHL or no CHL.
Some have issues with firearm registration with policing authorities.
Since firearm ownership is still a right and not a privilege.
In the coarse of protecting themselves, or their families, they are not going to care about that, and under certain circumstances neither is a jury, esp here in TX.
All and all, at the end of the day, It's the brave man who runs toward danger, while a coward runs away.
