| This may sound strange, but I start each day pulling up three sites that are about Saltwater fishing including this one. I value your opinions and insight and was hoping you could help my wife and I with a decision. My wife and I were both originally from the Corpus area, her Flour Bluff and me Agua Dulce. Our parents moved from the area in our early teens and we eventually met in college and the rest is history. We spend time each summer in Corpus (which is about the only time I post fishing reports on here] and I have a brother that moved to Aransas Pass about three years ago. We currently live in East Texas. I am putting together a three year plan to retire and relocate to the Corpus area and was wondering what ya'lls thoughts were on the best places to live. Island or Inland? We normally stay on the island when down there because we both fish PINS as well as Causeway to Baffin and offshore when the weather allows. Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

| If given a choice when my retirement comes around I would have to live on the water where I could either walk out back and step in the boat and go or fish my green lights in my own back yard at night. |

I think a Shatterbahn would keep me off the island. Just my opinion. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

Yup, I'm with wallhanger!! Or you could do like us and get an RV and live in it and just travel to all the campgrounds that can park you at the water's edge...fresh or salt!!! _________________ FishLady

Well, I live in Aransas Pass now and can't wait to relocate back to Flour Bluff. However, if I could afford it, I would buy a house on the Island with a canal. The closer to PINS, the better.
The RV option is great, but I would still need a shop. Plus I'm a huge man, I hate RV's. _________________ Fish hard. You never know when you'll make you last trip south. |

| Thanks for the input. looking at prices, we can afford a home on an interior lot on the island, The price jump is a little to steep for a canal home.....which is why I buy the occasional Lotto ticket haha. My brother lived in his RV for a couple of years before buying a home in Aransas Pass. Said he sure likes the extra space. I have to much stuff to live in a RV. |

i want to move back home soon, but we are looking at Ingleside with a house on a canal....some nice homes in there if that's what you are looking for as well...
it's quiet, only traffic are the guys shift changing to the plant, short drive to CC if need be. _________________ Trophy whitetail and exotic hunts on some of the finest ranches Texas has to offer, www.mcoutfitterstexas.com

That would be an awesome place to live if you can get one of those water lots. Very cool neighborhood.
Tailrope,
Aransas Pass has canal lots too. Plants you right next to the whole Redfish Bay area. Unfortunately, there is tons of traffice near that neighborhood and I wouldn't be surprised if the price tag on those was too high as well. Just a thought. _________________ Fish hard. It's a legitimate statement. I know of several folks who are looking to move off the island if/when the waterpark deal goes through. The original post asked for opinions. A huge waterpark complex (and the associated traffic) would certainly be included in any decision I made regarding where to spend my retirement years. If you like Spring Break on the island, then you probably won't be bothered by the traffic created by the new water park. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

I would recommend you stay off the island, we have been out here for 22 years and when we move from town out here things were good, a relaxed place to live and affordable.
Now here it what is driving us off....#1 Slitterbum, #2 windstorm insurance cost #3 flood insurance cost #4 spring break traffic and kids.
#4 all the know it all snowbirds that have move out here over the past 22 years.....
So we're moving to the Bluff. Alot better people and you can always shoot the theives without getting arrested.

I don't think you can go wrong either way, as long as you can get tot the water. _________________ Please let us remember the difference between genius and stupidity... genius has its limits.
