Hello All:
I'm a newbie here and a novice fisherman. I've been to the Port A jettys on many occasions, but it's been a few years since I've been to the area.

My questions: Question
Can someone give me some details on fishing on the new jettys at the Packery Channel?

Is there parking?
Is it crowded?
Is is great fishing?

Typically I'd get up and hit the boats over to the Port A jettys and fish with shrimp and corks. However, this time I'll be down there with some people who've never gone and don't really like getting up at 5:00 am.

Would the packery jettys be good for this? I'll be there next week so I know this is sping break time.

Any helpful hints?

Thanks for any of your advice.

Yes, there is parking, but you will need a parking permit or subject yourself to an outrageous fine. Be careful in your driving as some places have loose sand.

It can be crowded, but not usually in the early morning.

Fishing is as anywhere else - it all depends on the fisherman and the fish. make sure you have tide movement as it increases your odds.

Good luck, and let us know how you did.

Best time to fish it would be at night. Then the crowds are gone.

Of course you would miss the daytime scenery.

Saw a guy fall into the water on the surf side of the Port A jetties during spring break several years ago.

He was retying a lure when some scenery walked by, and wasn't watching what his feet were doing while turning to catch the scenery walking away, and slip - right in the water! Laughing Laughing

I imagine Packery jetties ought to have plenty of that kind of scenery to see on Spring Break.

ORBS ARE EVERYWHERE!

Ok, where would I get a parking permit? I'm planning on being down there later in the evening and trying to go fishing in the morning.

Almost all the convenience stores in Corpus Christi along the highway will carry them.
