One more fish topic to post today. The comment period for the increased quota of red snapper for the 2012 and 2013 seasons is now open:

http://sero.nmfs.noaa.gov/bulletins/pdfs/2012/FB12-028_Red_Snapper_PR.pdf?utm_source=Copy+of+Copy+of+Southeast+Fishery+Bulletin+-+Red+Snapper&utm_campaign=red+snapper+2012&utm_medium=email

The season is projected to be only 40 days long, beginning June 1st. Shocked

So line up your State water trips, as both the numbers and quality of fish are at an all-time high (at least in recent memory Laughing ), but a 40 day season is pretty quick.

The total allowable catch will be increased but the individual limit will remain at 2.

But since snappers are bigger and easier to catch we will overcatch our quota by a mile in 40 days. By their math anyway

LOL...I Love it.... fewer days on the water... same poo poo 2 fish a day limit, but they're allowing us to catch more! bless their hearts!

Roy Crabtree's little cronies go out and do a couple dozen visits at boat ramps and count red snapper, to extrapolate the entire recreational catch for the gulf of mexico.... it's the biggest crock of poo poo in the recreational fishing community right now.
