Use Fuji Concept guides. Several varieties that range from inexpensive ($25) to outrageous ($80) per set. Price varies depending upon the guide frame and ring material. The "alconite" guides are the least expensive and if you take care of your equipment by washing it down after use, then these are fine. If not, then upgrade to stainless or titatium guide frames.
I would use the following sizes on a 7-ft rod.
16 - 12 - 10 - 8 - 7- 7- 7 and then a size 7 tip-top.
The 16, 12, 10 are double-foot, the 8 and 7's are single foot fly guides.
Several on-line stores sell these as sets (Cabelas, Mudhole, Anglers Workshop).
As for the reel seat, I like the Fuji Exposed Blank seats. |

Omaka here,
To keep the rod lightweight, go with graphite reel seats and Alconite guides or Fugi Concept lightweight Hardloy high-grade aluminum oxide guides.
Depending on how much you want to spend, there's no need for metal reel seat and the guides mention will handle super lines (braid) should you decide to use them.
Hope this give you some guidance. Good luck, good fishing, and stay safe. |
