| South of bobhall about 3 miles paddled out baits brought in to check the bait had dead pup shark to small to pull the surf weight out never new he was on, was 1 ft if that dnt know how he even got the hook in his mouth. I unhooked him whn 2 game wardens pull up, female and male i walk up to them with my license automatically tell them about the small shark and ask them what to do with him they start giving me the third degree say my license is not a fishing license. I'm like what? have been fishing all my life here, buy the same fishing license every year at walmart or academy acted like they had never seen a fishing license they go back to the truck with my drivers license and fishing license come back she tells me i should not have had the shark in my possesion i tell them not on a stringer, in truck, cooler, or in my hands dead on the beach in plain sight wasnt trying to conceal it,not in my possesion. They say they will cut me a break and next time to throw it in the water, they take the shark and leave im standing there confused about what just happend so much for trying to do the right thing. he wasnt even big enough for a sandwich. |

Easy pickins on BHP if they want a great WTT ratio (who to ticket). Not saying they should leave the honest people lone cause, who knows who is and who ain't. _________________

That would be my first guess, that is probably why they took the shark and hauled a out of there. _________________ It is impossible to speak in a manner where you can not be misunderstood. |

| I like older experienced game wardens. I generally follow what the law says. I had gotten into trouble in the 80's to the tune of $180. I will try not to do that again. Law enforcement can be very funny sometimes, especially when they dont know the law. They are all human and make mistakes. Most are good people. I generally short myself via setting my own limit like 5 trout, not 10. One or two reds, not three. Check out a website called "Injustice everywhere" dot com. That will scare the hell out of you. |

I agree about the being human and making mistakes part........................ but coming in with an attitude and not being able to freaking count: "I generally short myself via setting my own limit like 5 trout, not 10" ?
A warden with and attitude can surely turn a legal trout into 14.999", but NOBODY can turn 10 into 11, no matter now hard they try!!! _________________ Dave

many game wardens are more so cops than game wardens these days I think. Last time I was checked down the beach the lady warden walked up to me and didn't say much and after standing by each other awkwardly for a few seconds I just started asking her if she wanted my license and to see the fish. It was like we switched roles or something. Then I had to explain to her what a bluefish was and that there weren't any regulations for them. A couple weeks later her compadre told me I was parked illegaly on the beach while I was throwing a topwater in a hole and no one was around. I was parked on the hard packed sand which he said was the road, I just scratched my head and observed the 75 yards of hard packed from the water to the dunes and said "yes sir" and moved my truck over 10 feet, which did nothing |

Lets face it y'all: a certain percentage of folks who go into law enforcement were bullied as kids or whatever, and have a psychological need to be what they believe to be important, a big shot and so on. Combine that with the ubiquitous "you can't fix stupid", and there will be a certain percentage of cops, WLO's and/or wardens that just don't deal with reality and a full deck!
I'm not calling out law officers or fish and game wardens, WLO's, ect. Just pointing out the facts of life. _________________ Dave

Well I have been lucky I suppose, I have only met really cool wardens,
these folks even told me where bit was and where they'd been seeing fish brought in!!!!
One time one just wanted to learn about kayaking.
One laughed his butt off when I fell on my face getting out my kayak (my legs were asleep) he just wanted to see my pfd. It was funny. |

There's always two side to every story, and this one's no different............... dealing with wardens that is to say. I never have much trouble with any law because I #1, don't do things to bring attention to myself and #2, I'm respectful if an when one does have a question, or whatever.
Having said that, my day is probably coming! _________________ Dave

| I got into a argument over the flounder limit with an experienced game warden once. He insisted I could keep 10 all year but the month it was closed. Once in the begging of duck season one did not know the bag limits set for that year and asked me. I was very confused also. |
