I forget to post up reports on CC fishing sometimes so here ya go let me catch you up a bit on some recent and not so recent trips
...dont remember the dates but monday night forsure i was out there haha.....
Trip 1...WINDY
I got to launch around 730 some thunderclouds in the area but non threatening so i paddled off waiting for bite o clock to start always same time every night...finally fish start to hit but the already 19 mph winds were picking up and so was the chop...i turn around to find a nice wall of a storm cell heading towards me....
i thought to myself "Jet just said careful with these sneaky storms"...by the time i pulled anchor and all my lines it was on top of me and it got BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD....paddled a mile back to launch with winds a easy 30+
i of course had a blast crashing through wave and chop is all part of the fun =)...so no fish
Trip 2
Winds still 19+ but suppose to die down....
day started with a 19.5 inch trout on a sight cast to a tail whoop
then a drum...then silence.....
i moved a little deeper with wind dying and tide dropping had a phone call and while on the phone a pod of reds went crashing 5 feet from me like a school of jacks way cool! couldnt get ready fast enough but i tried anyways and just listened...heard the pops and casted into the dark BAM! hooked up with a nice red.....
by this point in the night i really had to take care of business, so im facing down wind away from the yak when i hear...
zzzzzz...i turn around to see my ttf rod screaming for its life...i get there as fast as i can and it managed to fly out of the holder so i hurdle the yak and run for it luckily i found it with a lot of slack reel in and no fish...BUMMER!
so i sit my butt in the yak and say "thats a fishing moon right there bite better pick up" sure enough 2 of my rods go down and are singing then a half second later another goes down singing...i set the hook on one..and wouldnt you know it my ttf rod starts singing AGAIN!
i didnt think much about it until it goes flying out the holder AGAIN!
so i set down the rod i set the hook on jumped back in the water and again find it with no fish...
other two rods..lots of slack..no fish....
only rod that i had a fish on was the one i set the hook with pulled in a 28 inch black drum whoop!
next 15 min i manage well over a limit of drum, and 5 trout until the bite stopped as did the wind and such the tide.....
knowing the bite will bring maybe a fish a hour i packed up and headed back to launch....
Trip 3....
this trip shouldnt have even happened..i only went out because i cant count and only took 9 pics for KW when we needed 10....which hurts after i hit 16 drum the night before....
WINDY! WINDY WINDY!
bite was so slow because even the wind was too much for the fish...finally it calmed a bit and the moon came out and i managed 3 drum and called it....
its 1230 and my cousin manages to get his truck stuck in some nasty mud...
needless to say i got home at 5 in the morning whoop...
Anyways now i change my tactics to morning red fish fishing =) ill be there tomorrow morning and night
Got Young Gunz Limited on Drum with some help from OsoJet
60 fish from first but im confident i can dish out another 50 drum next month...i have to learn to catch something else haha
so anybody got tips for flounder? and what happened to the Team Young Gunz Fishing trip? hehe =)
almost forgot to mention! before you see the pic and pick fun at the reel with all the line wrapped around it in a huge bird nest on the left this is what happened...i paddles halfway to the truck and decided to throw 2 lines and just enjoy the stars....i tossed one bait out and before i could take in slack and out of freespool the other rod got a hit so i tended to it and reeled it in ..nothing.....other rod is still in freespool and it gets smacked HARD HARD HARD! tipped my yak a little bit in return it birdnested and the fish kept going so it just dug the line in the reel and made it impossible to manage ..tired to muscle but the fish was pulling HARD and i didnt want to break my line so i pulled anchor and it pulled me around a half mile to my truck until my steel leader broke...this fish had me cruising my only guess is a big big big big red and i know 50+ inchers are not uncommon to baffin really wish i would have got it to the yak to get a look but oh well =/
Other then these past few days here are some pics of my previous outings since my last report
