Im missing alot of power (not that i had alot to begin with), my choke acts more like a throttle and my throttle acts more like a choke when its running and i flood it after 2-3 pulls for a restart.
Think I need a tune up, anyone have a good reccomendation for a repair place or feel like working for a few cases of beer? |

| Classic signs that your pilot jet is plugged up, not allowing fuel to flow at low speeds. Have the carb cleaned, replace the fuel and should be good to go. |

I pulled my carb and shot the heck out of it with cleaner. I put it back on, but now when i pump my gas line primer bulb gas shoots out of the top.
There were only 2 screws to remove it, and i know i got the 2 gaskets and one O ring back in place. I removed the cover plate on top to spray that and thats where the gas is coming from. Little squirts when i squeeze the primer bulb as opposed to the bulb getting rigid before. Not sure what to do now.... I'm all about trying to fix it one more time myself if there is an easy "just try this" thing.
STEVEBAIT2 - I called your guy, he was super nice and really wanted to help me. Id love to use him but he is out of town for family reasons. I told him to give me a call when he gets back in town and i would have him fix it then, but im anxious to get out on the water.
Any other suggestions fellas? I really really appreciate the help! |

Take off the bowl and locate each of the jets (Pilot, air and main jet) and remove them from the carb body...Now, see if you can see through each of those jets ? If so, your blockage is inside the carb body. Today's cheap fuel with Ethanol turns into a nasty and corrosive gel and will plug up all the tiny passages that your fuel is supposed to pas through...Bottom line is carburetor cleaner will not usually open up blocked jets or carb bodies.
I use a welding nozzle cleaner (About $ 5.00 at Home Depot) to clean the jets and Chem-Dip to clean carb bodies. The carb usually need to soak overnight to disolve the nasty stuff.
I've ridden and raced dirtbikes all my life and the carbs are very similar.
Sorry, I can't speak much on the primer issue. |
