All I can say is they sure burn alot of fuel running around. I watched 4 of them one morning run the whole bay. I was on my spot hooking up with some reds while watching these guys when I thought the guy in the black tower boat was going to cut me off. He gave me a 100 yrds. It did not hurt my fishing. What a great weekend. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| 100 yards may of not interrupted your fishing but it is still too close. These fishermen have taken fishing and have converted it to hunting fish. |

I enjoy fishing redfish tournaments and fished one recently. A few weeks ago there was an abundance of redfish between the JFK and Bird Island Basin including numerous schools between 50 to 200 fish.
Little by little each time a i went out I saw more and more tower boats zig-zagging the flats, and the fish numbers dropped off tremendously. These guys literally pushed the fish into deeper water, and in my opinion, moved many further south.
These boats came too close to me many times, particularly a black tower boat, cutting off my drift.
I do look to bump a school when travelling from A to B, but to traverse every inch just for that purpose is wrong. They ruin fishing for many others, and they should realize that there can be plenty of good fish in the area even if you can't see them. |

Tower boats suck. Glad you found some fish, Stan. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

Ditto on the tower boats. A different breed of fisherman. Maybe the guy that started this technique, locally, was from Florida? My friend calls them deer blinds . I do agree they disturb lots of water, for the other guy, while looking for that school that will cooperate with their tactics.
Four of us walked approximately 300 yards and caught seven Redfsh, that we kept, and released one 30" female, within about 1 hour of fishing. When we left, the fish were still biting and they never even knew we were there. We only left, due to the ASA tournament weight-in time restraints.
Two complete different approaches to the pursuit. Both are productive, but ones does put more pressure on the resource. _________________ CARPE DIEM |

Believe me I don't care for them at all. Like Mike says, when they are around you cannot plan for a future move because they have burned all the close by flats. They should be outlawed like the commercial fisheman was. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| How can you tell if it is a male or female red without lifting up her skirt? |

That's some funny sh.. er stuff right there. Is it the same black boat from last year? There's a light green one stored in PA harbor that parked on top of our anchor last October and we named him Richard. Granted we were both after tarpon at the jetties, but really, that's a little bit too close! |

i believe academy has its HT tournament series next week and one in august so their will probally be many in the area for the next 2 months.anytime there is a redfish series or ifa in PA you can go down to the jfk bridge and watch the jackwagons doing 60 to 80 mph right through the bridge and never stop, blows me away.i know its not posted but cmon.me and my bro fished a couple redfish series tourneys in 2007 and i will never fish one again only small tournaments that have a cause and not just money hungry people that want to show off the shirts or new sponsorship boat .what really gets me is some of the so called pros consider themselfs as the best fishermen alive.which to me is a joke.i know many guides who refuse to fish tournaments go figure.its all about money with most of those fishermen so get out of there way.huh |

i honestly dont understand the hype of running all day spooking fish then trying to catch them....call me crazy.
also, if he listed that boat for sale, i don't think he would get much interest, especially from the fishing community, since everyone knows the negative that comes with that boat. _________________ Trophy whitetail and exotic hunts on some of the finest ranches Texas has to offer, www.mcoutfitterstexas.com

They rarely even have rods on the boat. How can you call it anything but harrassing wildlife? _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

so if they don't have any rods on the boat, then what exactly are they doing, scouting?
like i said, i really don't get it....seems to me, it's more of just tearing up the grasses, flats and harrassing wildlife and other fisherman all in one...
more ammo for the push, pole, wade peeps. _________________ Trophy whitetail and exotic hunts on some of the finest ranches Texas has to offer, www.mcoutfitterstexas.com
