you mean you're going fishing for the highly endangered red snapper species?

good luck! based on NMFS's analysis, this is a very rare fish.

(I bet you catch your limit in about 7 minutes) Very Happy

NOAA forecast goes to Friday; showing 2-4 ft seas, SE wind 10-15 knots.

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/data/Forecasts/FZUS54.KCRP.html

Nothing too exciting lately, typical late May transition period. Some indications of Kingfish being inshore...lots of Bonita and jacks around, and improving water clarity. They should be there any day now.

Snapper should be pretty epic this "season". If you know how to fish, you should have your limit in 2 drops.

I have a charter scheduled for Wednesday, which is day 1 for snapper. Will post up a report when I get back in.

Now, now. Lets not High Grade too much. The lengths and weights of snapper from last years stock assessment points to an EPIC year this year. So don't kill too many in an effort to maximize the early part of the season.

Like Matt says, "If you know how to fish....."

Big baits = big snappers Razz

Looking for monsters, but found easy bites and 6-8lb fish very high in the water column. 10,11,12.5 were the biggest of 8 we had. Bait wasn't an issue; they ate anything we dropped. Had multiple snapper following hooked fish up. You should be able to chum them to the surface if you want some different action.

Going somewhere different tomorrow, hopefully with bigger results.

Water was great, seas calmed down to 2ft or so coming home. Forecast looks fantastic through Monday.

Cleaner water is about 15 miles out.

Saw 2 small flying fish at the 18-20 mile range:)

I got a snapper trip planned for 6/18 off of the Dolphin Docks. They really put us on them a couple of years ago. We never moved once we got to the location. Good luck and post some pics.
