I wonder how the visiility is there. I punched in the coordinates it looks like it is just north of a port A jetties on the inside. I might dive it this summer and I will report back!!!

Later in the year it is pretty nice when the winds stop and the tide is not moving much. i bet you could get 20+ feet around there may be more on the right day. i would like to dive it as well.

This link I posted earlier seems to show it in pretty clear water. I have always heard that this area usually has some pretty clear water.

late july and into august should be great for diving/snorkling that wreck...I see people fishing it all the time. I thought that it was an old shrimp boat. Over 400' long....wow! Glad to know it now.

So does that mean shooting them with a spear gun is illegal in Texas waters?

Nope!!! Very Happy Very Happy

The only thing you can't shoot with a speargun is a gamefish IN State waters. Red snapper are not considered a gamefish, so shoot away!! Once outside State waters, the bag and size limit change to the Feds, but you can still shoot them.

Either location, just make sure what you shoot is legal size, because there ain't not catch-and-release when it comes to spearfishing. Embarassed

Oh I know, I remember being a little turned-around back in Light-house lakes, and then shooting out of a thick mangrove maze right into Lydia Ann. I remember seeing huge tankers and thinking "Hmm...this isn't where I parked!" You can count me in, but if fish back int he lakes again I am bringing a compass or gps Wink

Yeah - a GPS earns its keep and cost in the Lighthouse lakes - even with their waypoints. I think best would be to save all of their waypoints in the GPS BEFORE going in.
